About me and my therapy practice
Feeling anxious, constantly under pressure, or stuck in a cycle of overthinking and self-doubt? I am Josh Friend (MBACP), an integrative counsellor helping adults navigate burnout, perfectionism, and major life changes.
While you might look like you are coping well on the outside by meeting deadlines and keeping it all together, inside you may feel exhausted or secretly worried you aren't "good enough." I have over eight years of clinical experience supporting individuals through highly demanding UK and US environments. This has given me a deep understanding of the hidden pressures that come with career challenges, imposter syndrome, relationship difficulties, and the search for purpose.
Our sessions provide a collaborative, confidential space where you can drop the performance. We will work to understand the root of your anxiety, how past experiences influence your present, and build steadier self-worth. If you are new to therapy, I will walk you through the process so you feel comfortable from day one.
If this sounds like what you need, please email me to schedule a free 15-minute introductory video call. We can briefly discuss what is on your mind and see if we are a good fit to work together.
Practice description
I deliberately maintain a small private practice so our time feels unhurried and you are never just "one of many." We meet online (Google Meet) for 50-minute sessions, working collaboratively at a pace that feels safe and manageable for you.
My approach is practical and insightful. We will make sense of the patterns keeping you stuck, notice what actually helps regulate your anxiety, and shape actionable steps between sessions. I welcome adults of all ages who are ready to address burnout, relationship difficulties, or the heavy weight of high expectations.
My first session
Before we meet, I will email you a brief, secure intake form, our working agreement, and a privacy notice so the administrative side is handled stress-free.
Our first 50-minute online session is about establishing where you are right now. We will start with what has brought you to therapy, what a meaningful change would look like for you, and any practical needs you might have (such as pacing or camera use). I will briefly explain confidentiality and check basic safety details to ensure ethical practice.
There is no test and no pressure to share everything at once. It is just a calm, welcoming space to see how it feels to work together. If we are a good fit, we will confirm a regular weekly slot and discuss our next steps.
