About me and my therapy practice

Welcome, and thank you for taking the time to visit my profile. If you are looking for a therapist, I hope this will give you an insight into who I am, and how we might work together.

The Approach.

As a humanistic counsellor and psychotherapist, I believe you already hold important knowledge and insight about what you need from therapy. I often use the image of bringing your own bag of “stuff” into the room: you choose what you want to take out, when, and in what order.

Building Trust

I value taking time to build a collaborative therapeutic relationship that feels right for you — one that is free from judgement and from expectations about how therapy “should” look. I am careful about describing therapy as a “safe space”, because I cannot decide how any space feels for another person. Safety is something that develops through trust. My hope is that, over time, we can create a space where your nervous system can rest, even if only for a short while.

I work from an anti-oppressive and trauma-informed standpoint, through a neurodivergent lens. This means my approach may look a little different from more traditional face-to-face therapy. I work exclusively online and welcome creative, interactive ways of communicating.

Accessibility

Accessibility is as unique to each person as they are, some individuals need extra time in sessions, some need less, and for others it is being able to do a session whilst doodling, or being unapologetically comfortable at home. I am happy to discuss what you need in the counselling space.

Practice description

I mainly work with individuals who live at the intersection of several identities, including neurodivergent individuals (self diagnosis is completely valid here), LGBTQIA+ individuals, and those who live with chronic health conditions.

I have a specialist interest in counselling for the emotional impact of living with gynaecological conditions, including Endometriosis, Adenomyosis, PMOS (previously known as PCOS), and fertility issues.

I am particularly interested in supporting trans and non-binary clients through this journey, and I recognise not everyone who lives with gynecological health identifies as female, however terms such as “women’s health” are very commonly used but may not feel like the right space for you.

I also offer space for those who support individuals at the cross section of these identities, without judgment of getting it wrong. Caring and supporting those with chronic health conditions can be challenging.

My first session

I appreciate how daunting it can be to book that initial appointment. I recommend booking a free exploratory session, this is not counselling, it is an opportunity for us to meet and for you to ask any questions you may have. I will likely be having a cuppa, we meet online, and you decide what you want to share. From there you decided what to do next, there is no obligation to start therapy with me if you book an initial appointment. Drop me an email if this is something you would like to organise.
