About me and my therapy practice
Welcome, I'm Fiz. I'm an Integrative Therapist and I work relationally and collaboratively.
You may have arrived here because you're anxious, depleted, guilty, or unsure how you can keep holding everything together. Perhaps you’re experiencing relationship difficulties, recovering from a betrayal, or struggling with limerence.
Therapy with me allows you to work on what's painful and keeping you stuck, while also identifying ways to create meaningful shifts in your life and relationships.
Who I work with and how I work:
I work with individuals and couples who are looking to better understand themselves, their relationships and the challenges they’re facing. I believe therapy is most effective when insight leads to action. My aim is to help you feel clearer, calmer and better able to respond to life in ways that feel manageable and authentic.
While therapy can involve exploring difficult feelings, it doesn't have to feel heavy all the time. Humour and empathy are central to how I work, and shared moments of lightness can be just as healing as moments of depth.
Single Session Therapy:
A focused space for individuals who want to explore a specific issue in a more directed and purposeful way. Together, we’ll clarify what feels most important, identify practical next steps, and make the most of one meaningful 75min session to support insight, confidence, and change. (£95).
Couples Therapy:
For partners who feel they have lost their way with each other, whether that looks like distance, disconnect due to parenthood/childlessness, repeated arguments, a loss of intimacy, the impact of betrayal, or the quiet drift that can happen in long-term relationships.
I aim to create a space where both partners can feel heard, understood and gently challenged. Together, we look at what has happened between you, what each of you needs, and how you might begin to reconnect, communicate more effectively, and decide what kind of relationship you want to build from here.
Practice description
I work in person from welcoming, confidential, therapeutic spaces in Hall Green and Bournville with free and easy street parking. I also offer online sessions via Teams or Google Meet.
Whether in person or online, I work with you to explore and navigate the challenges and complexities life can involve. I work integratively, so I can tailor our sessions to you and what you are experiencing. You can expect warmth, compassion, humour and understanding.
In addition to the detailed areas, I can also help with confusion around cultural identity, as well as exploring some of the complexities around balancing familial and community expectations with your own needs and living your life in a way that feels authentic to you.
Before becoming a counsellor, I worked in education for nearly two decades, supporting both staff and students. This experience gave me deep insight into the specific stressors and emotional demands of this environment, and I continue to work with teachers and those navigating career pressures.
If you are in education, some of the ways I can help you are:
Becoming more boundaried and balanced
Prioritising your health and wellbeing
Managing stress
Minimising anxiety around unstructured time during holidays
Planning for ‘pinch-points’ in the academic year
Navigating challenging conversations
Negotiating 'Back to school blues'
Developing increased confidence, self-esteem and working with imposter syndrome
Exploring personal issues such as bereavement, ill health, relationship challenges and financial worries.
If you’re curious about working together, you’re welcome to get in touch for an introductory call or email. This offers a gentle opportunity to see how it feels to connect and whether we might be a good fit. There’s no pressure - just an invitation to take one small step, if and when you feel ready.
My first session
Your first counselling session is an important step, and it’s natural to feel a little uncertain about what to expect. Think of it as a gentle beginning — a chance for us to get to know one another and start building a connection based on trust, warmth and understanding.
During this initial meeting, you’ll have space to talk about what’s brought you to counselling and what you’re hoping to gain from it. We’ll explore your hopes and expectations together, and if you’ve had counselling or therapy before, you’re welcome to share what worked well for you and what didn’t. This helps me understand how best to support you.
We’ll also talk through confidentiality, so you can feel reassured about the privacy and safety of what you share. I’ll ask a few questions about your background and upbringing, as well as your current life and work situations. Sometimes this might include aspects like health, sleep or general wellbeing — all the parts that make up who you are and how you experience life.
Throughout our conversation, you’ll find that humour, compassion and empathy are central to how I work. I believe that counselling doesn’t have to feel heavy all the time; moments of lightness and shared humanity can be just as healing.
Most importantly, this first session is an opportunity for you to ask questions, express any concerns, and see how it feels to talk with me. Counselling is a deeply personal process, and it matters that we relate well to each other. This meeting allows us both to get a sense of that.
By the end of our time together, you’ll hopefully have a clearer sense of what counselling with me might look like, and whether it feels like the right fit for you. My aim is for you to leave feeling heard, respected and gently understood - the start of a space where you can begin to explore, heal and grow at your own pace.
