About me and my therapy practice

Finding the right counsellor for you and starting therapy can feel daunting, can’t it?

I've searched through pages to find my own counsellor and I know how important it is to find a great fit.

Someone warm, someone safe, and ultimately someone you feel comfortable enough with to begin a vulnerable process like this.

I’m Claire (she/her), I am a qualified integrative counsellor holding an MSc in Integrative Counselling, specialising in Gestalt and psychodynamic therapy.

My approach is grounded in warmth, respect and curiosity about you. I focus on creating an environment where you feel genuinely supported and understood, safe enough to show up as yourself and share what’s going on in your life.

How we work together

Together, we’ll explore what makes you, you. We’ll look at what’s happening now and what you’ve been through in the past. It’s all important and it all contributes to where you are today.

Throughout our sessions together, we’ll develop a deeper understanding of your experiences. We'll offer a space that's held just for you, we’ll notice patterns that are impacting you and provide the opportunity for something to become unstuck.

Whatever you’re going through, I’m here to be alongside you. Offering you a judgement-free relationship that feels comfortable and safe enough for you to feel your emotions and where we figure things out together.

Whenever you feel ready, sending that first email is a gentle place to start.

Practice description

Who I work with

I warmly welcome people of all backgrounds, identities, sexualities, neurodivergence and cultures in my practice. You’re welcome here exactly as you are.

Clients often come to me feeling the overwhelming demands of life, whether that’s carrying the heaviness of previous experiences or trauma, feeling all types of emotions from anxiety to low self-worth or experiencing challenging relational dynamics. There’s no ‘one size fits all’ – let’s explore what’s going on for you and find what feels helpful.

Professional background

I’ve volunteered at women’s charities and NHS sexual health services, providing counselling for women who have been through domestic trauma and sexual abuse. I believe that working together, we have the opportunity to create a trusting environment, focused on healing, where your autonomy is respected and celebrated.

Before I trained as an integrative counsellor, I spent many years working in the NHS and then in the creative industries. Working with people who have a range of perspectives and life experiences has strengthened my view that there isn't one single explanation for how we feel. There are so many different parts to us that contribute to how we feel and I’m here to be with you in that.

Qualifications

  • MSc Integrative Counselling
  • Graduate Certificate in Low Intensity Psychological Interventions
  • BA(Hons) in Writing, Directing & Performance

Experience

  • NHS Talking Therapies
  • NHS Sexual Health Service

  • BACP Accredited Counselling Organisation

My first session

We can arrange a free 15-minute introductory call where there’s no pressure - just a chance to ask any questions and get a sense of how working together might feel for you.

Sessions are 50 minutes long. And most people have sessions on the same day, same time each week. Talking regularly helps develop our relationship and, in turn, the therapeutic work we do together. It also gives you a regular space to come to, which can be so valuable when beginning to explore things that feel challenging.
