About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I’m Rehana, a person-centred counsellor based in Morley and Batley.

If you’re here, you may have reached a point where things are starting to feel difficult to manage on your own.

Maybe you’re the person everyone turns to. You’re there for your family, your friends or your work, keeping things going and putting your own feelings to one side. You might be so used to being there for everyone else that you don’t always stop to ask yourself how you’re actually doing.

Perhaps your mind feels constantly busy. You replay conversations, worry about what people think of you, question yourself or find it difficult to switch off from things that have happened.

Maybe saying no feels harder than it should. You put other people first, avoid disappointing people or keep the peace, even when it leaves you feeling drained.

On the outside, you might look like you’re coping, while inside you feel overwhelmed, stuck, lost or simply tired of feeling this way.

Sometimes there isn’t one obvious reason. You just know that things don’t feel quite right and you want somewhere you can be honest about what’s really going on.

Counselling can give you somewhere to bring all of that — without having to pretend you’re okay.

For me, the relationship between counsellor and client really matters. I want you to feel that you can be yourself with me — that you can say what you really think and feel without having to make it sound okay or worry about being judged.

I won’t tell you what you should do or make assumptions about your life. You are the expert in your own experience. I’ll listen, understand and work with you to explore whatever feels important to you.

Practice description

I offer person-centred counselling for adults aged 18+ experiencing difficulties including anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, bereavement, loss, identity issues, work-related difficulties and periods of change.

My work is based around the therapeutic relationship and creating a space where you can talk openly about your experiences. Sessions are shaped around what you want to explore, rather than following a set agenda.

We might explore your thoughts and feelings, relationships, experiences or patterns that you have noticed in your life. You may come with something specific you want to work through, or you may simply know that things aren’t feeling right.

I offer short-term, time-limited and longer-term counselling, depending on your circumstances and what feels appropriate.

I offer online, telephone and face-to-face counselling in Morley, with easy access from Leeds, Batley and Dewsbury. Sessions are 50 minutes.

Online and telephone sessions are £35, and face-to-face sessions are £45. Concessionary rates are available for students and counselling trainees.

I also offer a 20-minute introductory call if you would like to ask questions, tell me a little about what is bringing you to counselling and get a sense of whether working with me feels right for you.

My first session

Starting counselling can feel daunting, particularly if you have never spoken to a counsellor before.

You might be wondering what you’re supposed to say or whether you’ll even know where to start.

There’s no right way to begin.

Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and for you to talk about what has brought you to counselling, when you feel ready.

I’ll explain how I work, answer any questions you have and give you time to talk about what you would like support with. You can share as much or as little as feels comfortable.

It’s also a chance for you to see how it feels to talk to me. Finding a counsellor you feel comfortable with matters, particularly when you are talking about things that may be difficult to say out loud.

We can start wherever you are.
