Availability
I offer Walk and Talk Therapy (also known as Ecotherapy or Outdoor Therapy), as well as online, telephone, and home‑based sessions, so you can choose the setting that feels most comfortable for you.
My availability is flexible, with sessions offered on most days and at different times. For outdoor work, we’ll take daylight and weather into account so the space feels safe and supportive.
Concessionary rates are available, and you’re welcome to ask if you’re unsure.
I also offer a free 10‑minute phone consultation to gently explore whether working together feels right for you.
About me and my therapy practice
I’ve spent over 28 years working alongside people in a wide range of roles, and that experience has shaped the way I meet others—with steadiness, curiosity, and deep respect for each person’s story. My path eventually led me to train as a counsellor, and I hold a First Class BA (Hons) in Counselling Studies. I now work integratively, drawing from different therapeutic approaches so the work can adapt to you, rather than the other way around.
Alongside my private practice, I also work as a mental health recovery worker in crisis accommodation. This part of my work keeps me closely connected to the realities people face during their most vulnerable moments, and it continually strengthens my belief in the importance of compassionate, grounded support.
In my therapy practice, I offer walk and talk sessions as well as online, phone, and home‑based work. Many people find that being outdoors—moving gently, breathing fresh air, noticing the shifting light or the rhythm of their footsteps—helps them feel more at ease and more connected to themselves. Nature can offer a quiet kind of companionship, a sense of space, and a way of softening into the work at a pace that feels natural.
Whether we’re walking side by side or sitting together in another setting, my intention is to create a space where you can arrive exactly as you are. A space where your thoughts, feelings, and experiences can be explored with warmth, safety, and without judgement. My role is to walk alongside you—sometimes literally—as you make sense of what you’re carrying and discover what feels right for you moving forward.
Practice description
My Approach
My work is rooted in person‑centred therapy, with a focus on building a trusting, respectful relationship where you feel genuinely heard and understood. I don’t lead or direct; instead, I offer a calm, grounded presence that allows your own insights to emerge naturally. You set the pace, and I stay alongside you. Although person‑centred therapy is my foundation, I work integratively, drawing on ideas from CBT, Mindfulness, and Transactional Analysis when they feel supportive for you. The focus always remains on your experience and what feels right for you.
Walk and Talk Therapy
Walk‑and‑talk therapy blends counselling with the gentle, regulating qualities of being outdoors. Many people find that being outside helps therapy feel less intense and more spacious. The rhythm of walking can ease tension and help conversations flow, while the changing environment—light, air, movement—can offer clarity, grounding, and connection.
Walking can support emotional wellbeing by reducing feelings of low mood, depression, and anxiety, while increased blood flow to the brain can enhance creative thinking and problem‑solving. It also supports physical health by countering the effects of sedentary living. The pace is always set by you, and I will match it. Dogs are welcome to join us too.
My first session
We can arrange a time and place for your first session over the phone, and I offer a free 10‑minute initial consultation so you can get a gentle sense of me and the way I work. You’re warmly invited to reach out by email or phone whenever it feels right for you.
Our first session is a calm, settling space—much like taking those first few steps on a new path. We take a moment to arrive, to breathe, and to notice what you’re carrying with you. Together, we begin to shape the boundaries that hold the work safely, creating a steady container where you can move at your own pace. Everyone’s reasons for seeking therapy are different, and this first meeting helps us tune into what you’re hoping for, the way you might listen for the subtle shifts in light, weather, or season.
Whether we eventually work outdoors, online, or in another setting, this session offers a chance to sense how our work might unfold—step by step, breath by breath, with space for whatever arises. You’re welcome to ask anything you’d like to know about how I work, the therapeutic model I draw from, or any practical details, including payment. My hope is that you leave feeling grounded, informed, and gently supported as we begin this journey together.
