About me and my therapy practice
I am a Person-Centred therapist, which means I hold you at the centre of the work we do. My role is to accompany, acknowledge, witness and ultimately, be a part of supporting your unique journey to a more connected way of being with yourself and the world around you.
I work in a non-directive way. This means respecting your sense of pace and trusting in your own capacity to find the places to be explored, witnessed or held. It takes time to build trust, but over our sessions, we will create a space of safety, authenticity and acceptance between us. I recognise that both therapy, like life itself, can be a rollercoaster, full of ups, downs and the grey in between. I believe that our time together should be a place that feels safe enough to feel unsafe: my commitment is to be alongside you for it all, and hold an unwavering faith in you and all you are becoming.
There are many reasons to feel impacted not only by our most intimate and personal life, but also by the context and world that surrounds us. Life’s limitations, imposed values, injustices, societal restrictions can create tensions that feel beyond our control while also influencing the ways we feel about ourselves and others. My promise is to accompany and witness you in this, in the knowledge that that when we learn to truly accept ourselves, great change is possible.
Practice description
In person sessions are held in a private space in Ashton or The Practice Rooms in Exeter, EX4 3PT. They are both lovely spaces, but very different in context - one is rural and quiet, the other found off often busy streets.
I also offer walk and talk sessions in and around the Teign Valley and Dartmoor.
Please be in touch for further details or to discuss locations.
Online sessions take place on zoom - you must be able to join from a private place where you are comfortable to speak openly.
My first session
First sessions are 30 minutes, in person, on zoom or the phone. This is a chance for us to meet each other, talk a bit about your hopes for therapy and any specific things you would like to work on, or simply ask any questions.
It is important to find the right therapist who you feel comfortable to work with - I know this can take a few goes so, I offer these sessions for free, and encourage you to take whatever time you need to decide if I am the right fit.
