About me and my therapy practice

I offer a safe, compassionate, non-judgemental and calm space for you to feel valued and accepted in what you choose to bring to the sessions. I work integratively which means I draw on a range of psychological theories and approaches to find what works best for you.

I am trained at Masters level in person centred, psychodynamic, cognitive and behavioural approaches, and have further training in mindfulness-based approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

I have a special interest in working with the natural environment and the therapeutic benefits of nature connection, and I also offer walk and talk therapy, holding sessions outdoors in a quiet space or walking and talking in the Anglesey countryside.

I am also experienced in therapeutic writing and story work, and in other creative methods, and can offer these creative ways of working therapeutically if you would like to experiment.

I have experience offering therapy in NHS primary care settings, charities, and private practice.

My qualifications: MSc Counselling (Distinction), BSc Hons Class 1, MBACP

Practice description

We work together to gain a deeper understanding of what is coming up for you now, bringing curiosity and compassion to that experience to enable you to grow towards a life that is more fulfilled and meaningful for you. We will work together to find a pace that feels right for you, acknowledging that starting a therapeutic journey takes courage.

My approach is holistic, with an understanding that our life experiences are intertwined with our experiences of culture, race, gender and sexuality, environment, religious beliefs, political context, and the wider world.

I work with an understanding of the interconnection of our inner world, and our body, in how we store and process emotions. This is particularly relevant with anxiety and nervous system regulation, and my approach is trauma- informed and focused on safety and building strategies for self-regulation, and using somatic (body based) approaches.

I believe that exploring the parts of ourselves that are triggered by different experiences, can be a highly effective way to build awareness and understanding of difficult emotions such as shame, anger, anxiety, and grief. Bringing understanding, compassion, and building a relationship with all these parts through our therapeutic relationship can bring us to a more integrated and fulfilled place in our lives.

I am able to work with any mental health issue, but work particularly with anxiety, low self esteem, depression, self-harm, relationship issues, parenting issues, family conflict, mid-life and menopause, trauma, grief and bereavement.
