About me and my therapy practice
Do you feel like you don’t quite belong—whether in your relationships, your work, or even in yourself?
Perhaps you’re managing on the surface, but underneath feel disconnected, lonely, or unsure who you are and where you fit. You may feel caught between roles, places or expectations, or sense that something has shifted and life no longer feels settled or familiar.
I specialise in working with people who feel this way.
I’m Viki, a qualified therapeutic counsellor offering a warm, thoughtful and relational approach. I provide a calm, non-judgmental space where you can slow things down, reflect, and begin to make sense of what’s going on for you – including feelings that may feel confusing, hard to name or difficult to share elsewhere.
Some people come to counselling with a clear concern that they want to explore; others arrive feeling unsure, overwhelmed or simply knowing that something isn’t quite right. However it is for you, our work together is collaborative and guided by your pace. I aim to support you in developing a deeper understanding of yourself, so that change feels steadier, more meaningful and sustainable.
My background in Social Anthropology shapes how I understand identity, belonging, and the emotional impact of change. I bring this perspective into therapy in a grounded, accessible way, supporting people who feel disconnected—from themselves, from others, or from a sense of home.
Practice description
I work with a range of issues including anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, burnout, bereavement and depression.
Alongside this, I have a particular interest in supporting people who are living with experiences such as:
• Feeling like you don’t fully belong
• Separation, distance or disconnection in relationships or family life
• Life transitions that leave you feeling uncertain or unsettled
• Loss of people, roles, identity or a sense of home
• Cultural or identity related questions
These experiences can bring feelings of grief, shame, loneliness, or confusion, which are not always easy to express or make sense of alone. Therapy can offer a space to make sense of these feelings at your own pace, and to feel less alone with them.
I’m also interested in how place and environment shape emotional wellbeing—for example, feeling displaced, or uprooted, or longing or nostalgia for somewhere that feels like home. If relevant, these themes can be explored gently within our work together.
Before training as a counsellor, I completed a PhD in Social Anthropology at Durham University. This continues to inform my sensitivity to the complexity of people’s lives and identities, and I bring this understanding into my counselling practice in a grounded and accessible way.
My first session
Finding a counsellor you feel comfortable with is an important first step.
I offer a free 20—minute telephone consultation so we can briefly connect and see whether working together feels right for you. This is an opportunity for you to ask any questions and get a sense of how I work.
If you decide to go ahead, our first session is a gentle introduction. I’ll explain how counselling works and talk through our agreement, making sure everything feels clear and at your pace.
You’re welcome to share as much or as little as feels comfortable. You don’t need to have everything figured out—many people come to therapy unsure where to begin.
The focus is simply to start building a sense of trust and safety, so that over time you feel able to explore what matters to you most.
