About me and my therapy practice

If you feel dissatisfied with your life, unable to move on from grief or loss, or overwhelmed by anxiety or burnout, I would like to help you find a way forward. I'm experienced in working with individuals and relationships, whether that's an issue with your partner, sibling, parent, friend or colleague. I can help you explore your situation so that you feel empowered to make choices or changes that work for you both.

I believe feeling safe will help us develop our therapeutic relationship, so we will always work at your pace. I will not give you advice or tell you what you should do. Through mutual trust, and our supportive, nurturing relationship, you may gain clarity and confidence and start to make different choices, leading to a deeper connection within yourself and with the people you care about.

I believe change is possible throughout life. Our sessions provide dedicated time for you to explore how to move closer to living the life you desire. Together, we can examine the beliefs and behaviours that may have brought you to this point. Through increasing self-awareness, you may gain a renewed sense of purpose for the next phase in life, as we work together to bring about meaningful change.

I work in a comfortable therapy room, online or over the phone, whatever is easiest for you. I also work outdoors offering 'walk and talk' therapy in Sussex. See my website for further details: https://therapywithsarahhill.my.canva.site/

Practice description

I'm a person-centred therapist, who provides a safe space, free from judgement, where you will be valued and supported by my nurturing, empowering and compassionate approach. I will stay with you as you reflect upon issues or experiences that may cause distress, or feelings of shame, anger or despair.

We can experiment with creative therapy, including art, sand tray work, story telling and expressive writing, if this appeals to you.

Working therapeutically outside in nature may provide a different perspective from which to consider the challenges you're facing. Previously as a client, I found it liberating to engage both body and mind by talking through difficult issues outside, alongside my therapist.

Sessions are 50 minutes long. We can work short or long term.

I have several years experience in grief counselling with Cruse Bereavement, in a specialist role supporting people bereaved by suicide; I work with the Samaritans as an outreach worker in the community and therapeutically with first responders in the emergency services. I have previously worked with clients who are care-experienced, other-abled, or dual-heritage.

I hold a Post-Graduate Diploma in Humanistic Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Brighton (level 7) as well as specialised training in Working with Couples (Bernd Leygraf, NAOS Institute & Juliet Grayson).

I hold a degree in French from the University of Sussex. I’m a fluent French speaker and work therapeutically in French.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and follow their code of Ethical Practice. I have an enhanced DBS certificate and have previously worked as a teacher.
