About me and my therapy practice

If you're feeling overwhelmed, unable to move on from past events, or have relationship issues, I can help you manage anxiety or burnout and navigate life's transitions. If your responsibilities are divided between raising children or teenagers whilst supporting ageing relatives and pursuing your career, your emotional needs may have been placed last for too long.

I’m a qualified and registered counsellor (MBACP), trained to work with adults, couples, children and teenagers. If you want to understand yourself more clearly, learn different ways to respond to stressful situations, and start to feel more like yourself again, I would like to help you find a way forward.

I believe change is possible throughout life. Our sessions can provide dedicated time for you to explore how to move towards the life you desire, by considering how you have reached this point today. With increasing self-confidence, you may gain clarity around the next phase of your life, as we work together to bring about meaningful change.

I work in person, online or over the phone. I also work from my beach hut, and offer 'walk and talk' therapy in Sussex. See my website for further details: https://therapywithsarahhill.my.canva.site/

I have previously worked as a teacher and hold an enhanced DBS certificate.

Practice description

I understand counselling may feel daunting, so I want to reduce your fear by welcoming you with a warm, non- judgemental manner and with genuine care and interest in your wellbeing. We will go at your pace as you feel able to explore issues or experiences that may cause distress, or feelings of shame, anger or despair.

As an integrative therapist, we can experiment with creative therapy, including art, sand tray work, story telling and expressive writing. I also offer 'Walk and Talk' therapy.

I work in a community counselling service supporting abuse survivors, front-line emergency first responders, and people navigating family estrangement. I have several years experience in grief counselling with Cruse Bereavement, in a specialist role supporting people bereaved by suicide, and for young people who have experienced the loss of a parent or sibling or are preparing to do so. I work with the Samaritans as an outreach worker in the community, and I run a private practice, where I have previously worked with clients who are care-experienced, other-abled, or dual-heritage.

Training & Qualifications:

Post-Graduate Diploma in Humanistic Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Brighton (level 7)

Counselling Couples and Relationships (Bernd Leygraf, NAOS Institute & Juliet Grayson).

Counselling Adult, Children and Young People (Cruse)

I undertake regular ongoing training to deepen my knowledge. Recent workshops have included, 'Working With Shame' and 'Working with Consensual Non-Monogamy and Polyamory.'

I hold a degree in French from the University of Sussex. I’m a fluent French speaker and work therapeutically in French.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and follow their code of Ethical Practice. I have an enhanced DBS certificate and have previously worked as a teacher.
