About me and my therapy practice
Hello and welcome, I’m Jessy.
Are you finding yourself feeling heavy, overwhelmed or anxious? Or a little bit of all of the above? Have you become used to masking your true feelings or not feeling like you have the permission to express yourself freely? You might have wondered if therapy will work for you. Or perhaps queried whether you deserve the support. I help people understand what’s occurring on the inside. I shine lights on the ignored or disregarded parts, experiences or feelings of a person.
Working with me is authentic and reciprocal. To paint a metaphor, I, the therapist, am the passenger in your car. While you, the client, are the driver. I have the map and if need be, access to the emergency break. You are at the wheel. I am here to take you where you need to be. I bring warmth, curiosity and a technique that helps you understand what’s happening in a space clear of judgement or urgency. Collaboratively, we can find your best pace, identify the areas to explore and notice the patterns that aren’t currently serving you.
I work with adults from all identities and backgrounds, offering weekly sessions face to face, online or on the phone. Not sure where to begin? No problem, we can start there.
Practice description
I integrate humanistic counselling and psychotherapy into my practice. My technique and style fluctuate from client to client. I draw upon different theories and modalities on an individual basis, providing a unique, no one size fits all approach. I work with a wide variety of clients from all walks of life. Life can throw curve balls, but whatever has been chucked at you, you don’t have to face it alone. We can work together, creating a strong and supportive therapeutic relationship that will help you to grow.
My first session
The first session is an opportunity for us to go through the client contract together. I will explain a little bit about how I work and what to expect in our sessions. We might set some therapeutic hopes together, of what you would like to work on or where you hope to be when we finish. We might also discuss the timeframe of your therapy, agree on a number of sessions to aim for or an end date to work towards. But most importantly, we start wherever you are and I will listen to whatever you need to bring.
