About me and my therapy practice
Hi, my name is Hannah. I am an integrative counsellor and coach, based online and in North/Central London. My approach to my therapeutic work is flexible and trauma-informed. With the aim to create a safe and welcoming space in the therapy room, where the pace of sessions can be completely guided by you.
People seek counselling for many different reasons, whether this is navigating life after loss or life change, struggles with depression or anxiety, wanting to learn more about your thinking or behavioural styles, or a million other reasons. Finding a space that feels safe enough to explore these big things, and finding a way of working that really works for you is so important.
In my work, I begin by really listening to you and your story, working with you to understand and make sense of current and earlier life experiences, patterns, and dynamics - and how these affect and impact you. If you are wanting to use the therapy space to work on change, my practice also can include elements of solution-focused therapy or coaching. I really aim to be both compassionate and practical, supporting you to gain insight while also working towards meaningful change if that is what you are looking for.
My practice is allied with the queer and trans+ community, and is LGBTQIA+ , Kink, Sex Worker, and ENM-friendly. I love working with younger adults, but also welcome people from any and all backgrounds..
Practice description
I work both as a counsellor and a coach. I am always more than happy to take some time to explore what kind of approach or support might be best for you.
Counselling is a wonderful tool to be able to explore past experiences and learn how they may continue to show up in our lives. Sometimes we may want a space purely for curiosity, exploration, and to be heard, and sometimes we might want to take steps to change how our past experiences are affecting us. Coaching is often a more-forward thinking tool, looking at the present and the future. Coaching can help identify areas in our lives that we may want to enact change, and can offer structure to support these changes.
I have experience working with stigmatised topics such as bereavement by suicide, surviving sexual abuse, and navigating complex family dynamics. From this experience, the topics that often arise for people include attachment and attachment styles, understanding life after loss, symptoms of PTSD and cPTSD, and questions about identity.
I am really interested in the mind and body connection and so my can include elements of mindfulness and nervous system regulation, as well as psychoeducation about trauma and the body. The hope is to develop an embodied sense of confidence and a stronger sense of self. This can be helpful if you are experiencing things like dissociation, flashbacks, or are wanting to manage and reduce the effect of triggers. All things that no one should have to navigate alone. I am always happy to chat a bit more about the way that I work, or answer any questions so that you can feel as informed as possible about what to expect.
You may not know what support you’re after yet, and that’s okay! Reach out, and we can arrange an introductory call to discuss where you’re at and what you might need.
My first session
I offer a free 15-minute introductory call to anyone interested in support. This no-commitment introductory call is a chance to get to know a bit more about you and what has brought you to counselling or coaching, and to understand if I may be able to help.
In our first full session together we will begin to get to know each other, I may explore a timeline of significant events with you, and we may begin to look at what you might like to get out of counselling or coaching, including clarifying goals and expectations for therapy or coaching. As well as an introductory call, the first session is a chance for you to ask me any questions you may have about counselling, coaching, or the way I work.
