About me and my therapy practice

My approach is person-centred, which means I believe you are the expert in your own life. My role is not to tell you what to do or how to feel, but to offer a safe, accepting and non-judgemental space where you can explore your experiences, understand yourself more deeply and discover what feels right for you.

I work with empathy, warmth and genuine curiosity, listening carefully to what matters to you and seeking to understand your world from your perspective. Together, we can explore difficult feelings, patterns in relationships, past experiences and the challenges you face in the present.

I recognise that everyone's experiences are different. You don't need to have everything worked out before coming to counselling, and there is no expectation that you arrive with clear goals or answers. We work at a pace that feels manageable for you, allowing space for uncertainty, reflection and change.

I aim to offer a relationship in which you feel heard, valued and accepted as you are. My hope is that, through this process, you can develop greater self-understanding, reconnect with your own strengths and find a way forward that feels authentic to you.

Practice description

Welcome to Galini Counselling. I'm Kirstie, a person-centred counsellor offering online counselling by video to adults and young people aged 16 and over.

Life can sometimes feel overwhelming. Perhaps you're navigating a difficult relationship, coming to terms with loss, making sense of painful experiences or feeling disconnected from yourself. You may be struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem or changes in your life that have left you questioning who you are and where you're heading. You don't need to have a particular problem or know exactly what you want to explore to benefit from counselling.

I have a particular interest in trauma, loss and relationships, and I welcome neurodivergent clients, including those with ADHD and autism. I aim to offer a compassionate, accepting space in which you can explore your experiences without feeling judged or needing to mask who you are. I recognise that everyone's experiences are different, and I seek to understand your world from your perspective.

My practice is grounded in the belief that being genuinely heard and accepted can help us make sense of our experiences and discover new possibilities for ourselves.

I am a registered member of the BACP (MBACP) and an accredited registrant with the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (MNCPS Acc.).

If you're considering counselling but would like a discussion before committing to a first session, I offer a free, informal 15-minute chat by phone or video. It's an opportunity to ask questions, get a feel for how I work and decide whether you'd like to take things further, with no obligation.

If something here resonates with you, you're welcome to get in touch to ask questions or discuss how we might work together.

My rates:

£50 (60 minutes)

£70 (90 minutes)

£38 (45 minutes)

Trainee counsellors - £38 (60 minutes)

I have a limited number of sessions available at a concessionary rate for people on low incomes. Please get in touch to discuss availability and eligibility.

My first session

Starting counselling can feel daunting, particularly if you've never spoken with a counsellor before. You may feel nervous or unsure where to begin, and that's completely okay.

Before booking, you're welcome to arrange a free, informal chat by phone or video for up to 15 minutes. This gives us an opportunity to introduce ourselves, discuss what you're looking for and consider whether working together feels right for you. There's no obligation to book a session afterwards. It's important that you feel comfortable with me and that we have an opportunity to consider whether working together feels right for you.

Our first counselling session offers a space to begin getting to know one another and explore what has brought you to counselling. I'll invite you to share as much or as little as feels comfortable. There's no pressure to tell your whole story at once, and you don't need to have the right words to explain how you're feeling.

We'll discuss how counselling works, confidentiality and its limits, and any questions you may have. My approach is person-centred, so there's no expectation that you arrive with clear goals or a plan for change. We can take things at your pace, in a space where you can feel heard and accepted.

Your first session gives us an opportunity to explore your needs and circumstances, and for me to consider whether I can offer the support that's right for you. This isn't a formal assessment you need to prepare for, but the beginning of a process that allows us to explore your experiences together.
