About me and my therapy practice

Many individuals experience feelings of not fitting in or being different from others, which can lead to uncertainty about themselves and how they think. Having personally navigated similar challenges through self-discovery, acceptance, and counselling, I have come to appreciate the value of embracing individuality. Recognizing that being distinct is both acceptable and beneficial has informed my approach as a counsellor.

If you resonate with these experiences, I am here to support you. I offer a safe, calm, and confidential environment in which you can explore your identity and learn self-acceptance.

My name is Becky, and I am a person-centred counsellor committed to helping others. My interest in counselling stems from my genuine care for people and a desire to make a positive impact. Despite initial hesitations related to change and life’s commitments, a diagnosis of Breast Cancer at age 35 prompted me to re-evaluate my priorities. After overcoming this challenge, I embraced counselling as my vocation.

In addition to my practice, I have worked in a non-clinical NHS role for the past 15 years. This experience has given me insight into the complexities and pressures of demanding environments, as well as the challenges patients encounter when navigating the healthcare system.

Personally, I live independently and share my home with two cats, Charlie and Isabela, who mean everything to me. I enjoy walking, spending time in nature, and travelling, having visited 26 countries as a solo traveller.

I have both personal and professional experience working with issues such as self-discovery, depression, stress, anxiety, burnout, neurodivergence, and difficulty connecting with others. Please feel free to contact me so that we may discuss how I can assist you.

Practice description

As an introvert, I listen attentively and give you space to share. I won’t offer advice or direction; instead, I support you in finding what works best for you.

Sessions will take place face to face in the Camborne, Redruth, Pool area and each lasts 1 hour. Ideally weekly, at least for the first few sessions but if costs or time is an issue fortnightly or monthly is also possible.

My preference is in-person because I feel it is easier to create the trusting counsellor/client relationship that is needed for counselling to really work in-person. Especially for the first few sessions.

However if you live in another part of the county/country or are unable to access in-person counselling and really want to work with me I am happy to consider other options, please get in touch and we can have a look at what would work.

There is no minimum or maximum number of sessions you have to attend, we will regularly review whether you wish to continue or not.

My first session

I offer 45 minute taster sessions at £25 per hour. This first session is where we get to know each other to see if we will be able to work with each other. It is important that you feel able to work with me as the counsellor/client relationship needs to work in order for counselling to work. You will get a taste of how future sessions will go and get to decide whether you want to book more sessions or not. You don’t have to decide this on the day but are welcome to do so.
