About me and my therapy practice
I am an integrative counsellor who draws on Person-Centred, Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Gestalt approaches. Working integratively allows me to tailor therapy to the individual, recognising that each person's experiences, needs and goals are unique.
At the heart of my work is the belief that a strong therapeutic relationship can provide the foundation for meaningful change. I aim to offer a warm, supportive and non-judgemental space where you feel able to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences openly and at your own pace.
Depending on your needs, our work may involve exploring how past experiences influence your current relationships and patterns of behaviour, increasing awareness of thoughts, emotions and behaviours in the present, or developing practical strategies to help you manage difficulties more effectively. I believe therapy should be collaborative, and we will work together to understand your experiences and identify what feels most helpful for you.
I work with adults presenting with a range of concerns, including anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, emotional overwhelm, life transitions and personal development. Whether you are seeking support with a specific issue or looking to gain a deeper understanding of yourself, I will work alongside you to help you move towards your goals in a way that feels authentic and meaningful.
Practice description
Taking the first step towards counselling can feel difficult, whether you are experiencing a specific challenge or simply feeling that something in your life is not quite right. I aim to provide a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences openly and at your own pace.
I work with adults facing a range of difficulties, including anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, relationship issues, life transitions, loss, emotional overwhelm and personal development. Counselling can offer an opportunity to understand yourself better, gain new perspectives and develop ways of responding to life's challenges that feel more helpful and authentic.
As an integrative counsellor, I tailor my approach to the individual rather than following a single therapeutic model. I draw from Person-Centred, Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Gestalt approaches, allowing us to work in a way that best supports your needs, goals, and personal circumstances.
I believe that being listened to with empathy, acceptance and respect can be a powerful experience. My role is not to tell you what to do, but to work alongside you, helping you make sense of your experiences and supporting you as you move towards the changes you would like to make.
I offer counselling online and in person and welcome enquiries from anyone considering therapy. If you are unsure whether counselling is right for you, I am happy to discuss any questions you may have and help you decide whether we may be a good fit to work together.
My first session
The first session provides an opportunity for us to get to know one another and explore what has brought you to counselling. We will discuss the difficulties you are experiencing, what you hope to gain from therapy and whether my approach feels like the right fit for your needs.
I understand that starting counselling can feel daunting, so there is no expectation for you to share everything straight away. We will work at a pace that feels comfortable for you, and you are welcome to ask any questions about the counselling process.
During our first session, I will gather some background information to help me understand your circumstances and identify how best to support you. We will also discuss practical matters such as confidentiality, contracting and how we might work together in the future.
The initial session is an opportunity for both of us to consider whether we feel comfortable working together. A strong therapeutic relationship is an important part of effective counselling, and finding the right counsellor for you is an important decision.
