About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I'm Tarek — a humanistic psychotherapeutic counsellor based in London. I offer a safe, warm, and non-judgemental space where you can explore whatever is weighing on you, at your own pace.

Whether you know exactly what's bringing you to therapy or you're simply aware that something feels wrong, you don't have to have it figured out yet. That's what we're here to find together.

My approach is relational and collaborative. Together we co-create a space where emotions can be explored with curiosity and without judgement. Rooted in a Humanistic framework, I draw on Gestalt to heighten awareness, Transactional Analysis to understand patterns in relationships, and Person-Centred therapy to support your innate capacity for growth and self-understanding.

I am a qualified Humanistic Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, registered with the BACP, and currently completing my Masters in Humanistic Psychotherapy at the Metanoia Institute in Ealing.

Practice description

My practice offers a warm, inclusive, and collaborative space where you can safely explore what’s troubling you and begin to understand yourself more deeply. I work relationally—meaning the therapeutic relationship between us is central to the process. Together, we’ll co-create a supportive environment where feelings, thoughts, and patterns can be explored with empathy, honesty, and without judgement.

I draw from a Humanistic approach, which values your individuality, autonomy, and lived experience. I aim to meet you as a whole person — with respect for the uniqueness of your story and how you make sense of your world. My work is grounded in Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, and Person-Centred therapies, integrated in a way that encourages awareness, choice, and authentic self-expression.

Clients often come to me seeking help with anxiety, low mood, loss of confidence, trauma, relationship difficulties, or a general sense of being stuck in life. You don’t need to know exactly what you want from therapy to begin—sometimes the starting point is simply noticing that something doesn’t feel right. Therapy can offer a space to slow down, make sense of what’s happening, and connect with parts of yourself that may have been overlooked or silenced.

I have extensive experience working with people from all walks of life, and particular expertise supporting LGBTQ+ clients, people from marginalised communities, and survivors of war or sexual assault. I understand how experiences of exclusion, shame, or trauma can shape how we relate to ourselves and others, and I work with warmth, sensitivity, and respect to help clients feel seen and supported.

My first session

I offer a free 15-minute call for us to meet and briefly discuss what brings you to therapy, how I work, and any questions you may have. We can then schedule a full introductory session.

Our first full session together is an opportunity for you to experience what it feels like to work with me, whether in person or online. You’ll have space to share more about what brings you to therapy, what feels difficult, or what you’d like to focus on. You can also ask me questions about how I work, what therapy with me might involve, and how it could best support you.

This initial meeting is not just a conversation but a gentle, collaborative exploration—an opportunity for both of us to get a sense of whether we feel comfortable and can work well together. After this session, we can each take a little time to reflect on whether continuing feels right.

The introductory session lasts 50 minutes and is charged at my standard rate of £60.
