About me and my therapy practice

If you’re someone who looks calm on the outside but feels tense, overwhelmed, or on edge inside, you’re not alone. Anxiety can be quiet and constant - a tight chest, racing thoughts, that sense of “I should be coping better than this” even when you’re doing everything you can just to get through the day.

I’m Tonya, a person‑centred counsellor. And from the very beginning, I want you to know this: you’re the expert on your life. You know your history, your feelings, your patterns. I’m not here to direct you or tell you what to do. I’m here to walk alongside you while you explore what’s happening inside.

My aim for this space is to offer somewhere you don’t have to hold everything together. A place where you can speak freely without feeling like you need to perform or find the “right” words. I understand what it’s like when anxiety sits in your chest or your thoughts, and my aim is to offer a space where you can finally breathe a little easier.

In our sessions, we slow things down. You talk in your own way, at your own pace, and I stay with you - listening closely, noticing how anxiety shows up for you, and offering a steady, grounded presence while you make sense of things. There’s no rushing, no pressure, no expectation to be anything other than who you are in that moment.

Over time, things can start to soften. Not in a dramatic, overnight way, but in a gentle loosening - a bit more room inside, a bit less tightness, a bit more understanding of yourself. These shifts come from you. I’m simply alongside you while they unfold.

You set the pace. I’m right here with you.

If this sounds like the kind of space you’ve been needing, I offer a free 20‑minute chat. Sessions are £45 for 50 minutes, online during the day and evening.

Practice description

Who I Work With

People come to counselling for many reasons.

Some feel anxious or overwhelmed.

Some feel disconnected from themselves.

Others simply want a place where they don’t have to manage anyone else’s feelings.

Whatever brings you here is welcome.

Next Steps

I offer a free 20-minute consultation so you can see whether this space feels right for you, with no pressure to commit.

You don’t need the perfect words - a simple message is enough.

The free 20-minute consultation is a gentle conversation where you can ask questions and see how it feels to talk together.

Sessions are £45 for 50 minutes.

Online appointments are available during the day and evening.

If I’m full, I offer a waiting list.

If something here resonates, you’re welcome to reach out.

You don’t have to carry everything alone.

My first session

Our first session is there to give us a steady starting point. We’ll spend most of the time going through a gentle questionnaire together. This helps me get a clearer picture of you, your background, and what’s brought you to counselling. It’s simply a way for me to understand you better so I can support you in a way that feels right for you.

This first session isn’t about diving straight into difficult things. It’s about slowing down, building safety, and making sure we have the context we need. By the end, you’ll have had space to share what feels important, and I’ll have a better sense of how to walk alongside you in the sessions ahead.

I offer sessions at a pace that works best for you. Some people find a weekly rhythm supportive, especially when exploring anxiety, relationship patterns, or the impact of earlier experiences. Others prefer to meet more or less often, depending on what feels manageable and helpful. Together, we can find a frequency that supports your wellbeing, builds trust at a comfortable pace, and gives you the space you need to process whatever arises.
