About me and my therapy practice
I offer online counselling for adults, providing a safe, confidential and supportive space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences at your own pace.
My approach is integrative, with a strong psychodynamic foundation. This means that, alongside listening to what is happening in your life now, we may also explore how past experiences, childhood relationships and unconscious patterns influence the way you feel about yourself and relate to others.
I believe that our early experiences can shape how we respond to emotional difficulties, sometimes without us being fully aware of it. Through our work together, we can begin to recognise these patterns, understand their meaning and explore different ways of relating to ourselves and others.
I have experience working with adults from diverse cultural backgrounds, including people experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, loss, identity issues and the emotional impact of migration and cultural differences.
I offer counselling in English and Arabic, with an understanding of how culture, language and personal identity can influence our emotional experiences.

Practice description
Sessions take place online, once a week, for 50 minutes. I offer both short-term and open-ended therapy, depending on your needs, although my approach is particularly suited to those wishing to explore themselves at a deeper level.
My aim is not to tell you what to do or provide ready-made solutions, but to work alongside you in developing a better understanding of yourself, your emotions and your relationships, in a space where you can feel heard, respected and understood.
My first session
Our first session is an initial assessment, offering us an opportunity to get to know each other and explore whether we feel comfortable working together.
Unlike subsequent therapy sessions, the first meeting is slightly more structured and directive. I will ask questions to help me understand what has brought you to therapy, your current difficulties, personal background and what you hope to gain from our work together.
It is also an opportunity for you to ask questions, learn more about my therapeutic approach and consider whether it feels right for you.
I see this as a two-way process. It is important that we both feel comfortable and confident about working together.
The initial assessment lasts 60 minutes, rather than the usual 50 minutes, and is offered at the same fee as a standard session.
By the end of the session, we can discuss how we might proceed, including the focus of our work and the arrangements for ongoing weekly sessions.
There is no obligation to continue after the initial assessment.
