About me and my therapy practice

Hello and welcome. I am a qualified integrative therapist and I provide a unique and confidential space in which I tailor my approach to your individual needs.

I will work with you, offering a warm and supportive space in which you can explore challenges you might currently be facing and can help you better understand yourself and how you relate to others. Safely and at your own pace you can become closely aware of your feelings, thoughts and patterns of behaviour – often for the first time.

The beginnings of self-awareness can lead to discovering more about yourself and encourage gentle and profound change and growth.

Practice description

Our therapeutic relationship is central to supporting your self awareness and to reaching the goals and expectations you have for therapy. Working collaboratively we can explore where you might be feeling stuck, unhappy or at a crossroads in life or a relationship.

I understand that life is challenging and that we go through periods of feeling sad, stuck, lost, unfulfilled or anxious. Believing that our relationship is important in the therapeutic process, I work collaboratively to support change. This may look like exploring early life attachment styles and history, the impact of ADHD, abuse, relationship issues or the challenging of negative thought patterns or feelings of anxiety.

Issues you are experiencing maybe triggered by a past event, current work situation, close relationship, or by feeling stuck or overwhelmed during a particular life transition. Anxiety may be leading to negative self-talk or comparison with others.

I hold the firm belief that we all have the capacity within to cope, grow and change through these difficult periods. I provide an empathetic, listening and supportive space for clients to explore past and present experiences and emotions resulting in an improved and more fulfilling life.

My first session

Prior to our first session we will have had a 15-20 minute call in we talk through what you are hoping for in therapy and for you to get a feel for how I work.

During our first session we will complete an assessment comprising your presenting issues, history, coping strategies and previous experience of counselling. Importantly we will  discuss your goals and expectations further and agree the shape of our sessions depending on short or longer term therapy approaches.

I will encourage your input and questions as to how I work and what you can expect from our time together.

We will also discuss some important administration issues such as confidentiality, risk and ethics and how I follow the ethical guidelines of the British Association of Counsellors Psychotherapists one of the governing bodies in this country.
