About me and my therapy practice

Because of its commitment to human freedom and capacity for development and problem-solving, the Person Centred Approach to therapy is the anchor of my practice. This means I am especially committed to support your unique way, as opposed to coaxing you down ready-made paths or trying to fit you into a theoretical ideal of what a human being ought to be. My practice is undergirded by up-to-date insights on how our brains and bodies can interact with the world in normal and traumatic times but the work in the room is never a one-size-fits-all approachIf you want to know more, I am always happy to answer any questions about my work.

Practice description

I have been working as an Integrative and a Person Centred therapist since 2019 with people going through all sorts of things, including: life changes, difficult relationships, struggles with unhelpful coping mechanisms, abuse, anxiety, depression etc. No two people are the same so I meet everyone as they are, with openness to where we will go together in your sessions.

You can expect me to deeply listen, to understand what life is like for you at this time. I work on the basis that an organic process of exploration is robust enough to find what needs to be found at the right time for each person. This means I don’t dig around to needlessly expose painful things but go at a your pace. Sessions with me will tend to look like a conversation, in which the main subject is your life. Sometimes it can be hard work, sometimes it can be fun, honest!

I offer anything from a single session to open-ended work; whatever I can and whatever works for you.

My first session

If we haven't had a chat beforehand then the first session will be an opportunity for us to meet each other and get the ball rolling. There'll be plenty of opportunity for you to ask me and tell me anything you want, and possibly a couple of gentle questions from me about your current circumstances. I won't be trying to prize you open and share things you don't want to share and I'll aim to make sure you leave knowing what future sessions could look like and any practical details.
