About me and my therapy practice
I'm a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist. I offer a warm, compassionate, safe space to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences. I work in an integrative way, drawing from different therapeutic approaches and techniques, such as cognitive behavioural therapy, person-centred therapy, and psychodynamic therapy, and combining them in a way that best fits your needs. I strive to provide an environment where you feel heard and understood.
My role is to hold a space where you can pause, reflect and begin to make sense of what's going on for you. The heart of the work is where the therapeutic relationship is formed. A place where we can work together, at your own pace, to gain insight and awareness into what's going on with you, to create a life for you that feels more balanced, meaningful and fulfilling.
I am interested in supporting individuals who are struggling with the impact of trauma, cultural expectations, identity conflicts, and relationship difficulties. I have a particular interest in working with people navigating the intersection of culture, faith, family expectations, and personal wellbeing.
I understand that reaching out for support can feel difficult, however, I aim to make the first step as comfortable as possible. Whether you're struggling in your relationships, confronting past traumas, feeling overwhelmed, or finding life difficult to cope with. You don’t have to face it alone. Wherever you are, I encourage and welcome you to get in contact.
I have experience working with a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and grief. I have worked across a range of services, including drug and alcohol, and other third sector organisations.
Practice description
In practice, I tailor therapy to each individual rather than using a single therapeutic model. I begin by taking time to understand your concerns, goals, and personal experiences so that we can develop a shared understanding of what has brought you to therapy.
Depending on your needs, our work may involve exploring current difficulties and identifying unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviour, reflecting on past experiences and relationships to gain insight into recurring patterns, or providing a compassionate, non-judgemental space where you can process emotions and feel heard.
I work collaboratively and at your pace, regularly reviewing how therapy is progressing to ensure it continues to meet your needs. My aim is to help you develop greater self awareness, strengthen your coping strategies, and support meaningful, lasting change.
My first session
During our first session, we'll spend time getting to know one another and exploring what has brought you to therapy. This is an opportunity for you to talk about your concerns, ask any questions, and decide whether you feel comfortable working with me.
We'll discuss what you're hoping to gain from therapy, any relevant background or life experiences, and begin to identify the issues that are most important to you. There is no expectation to share everything straight away. We will work at a pace that feels safe and manageable.
I'll also explain how I work, discuss confidentiality and its limits, and answer any practical questions you may have about the counselling process. Together, we'll consider how we might work towards your goals and whether short term or longer term therapy would best meet your needs.
My aim is for you to leave the first session feeling heard and understood, with a clearer sense of how therapy can support you.
