About me and my therapy practice
I work with adults and adolescents aged 15 and over with a broad spectrum of issues, including disability (physical, sensory or physical), grief (including people, pets, working animals), depression and anxiety; fears and phobias.
I also work with trauma; an issue effecting many aspects of people's lives when it occurs. Having therapy for it, doesn't mean reliving it. I work with people whose lives have never fit neatly into boxes, those living with complex health or disability, long-term caring roles, or layers of loss others struggle to understand. Many of my clients arrive feeling they’ve been told they're “too complicated” for other services, or their experiences don’t fit standard models of support. I offer a space where you don’t have to simplify yourself to be heard. Together, we explore what it means to live fully, even when life looks very different from what you imagined.
Prof. Dip Psy C, Dip CST. MBACP, MNCPS, (Acc).
Practice description
My approach is collaborative, relational and grounded in authenticity. I work from a Person-Centred framework, drawing on Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural ideas when suitable, as well as somatic and expressive arts approaches when words don’t quite fit. You might explore through sound, music, texture, movement, imagery or multi-sensory visualisation as part of finding your own language for what you feel.
There’s no expectation to be “fixed.” Counselling can be a place to rediscover balance, wholeness and a sense of yourself within the life you already have. Deciding to seek help is a big step and you are the expert about your life, it’s up to you how to change how you feel and I’d be delighted to help you move forward; not move on but move past the pain. Reach out if you’d like a chat.
My first session
Our first session together depends on my client. If the contract and registration form haven’t been completed and understood, we can spend a few minutes on that. Otherwise, we can spend the whole session getting to know each other better and getting used to each other, whether we’re meeting virtually or in-person, and I get a clearer sense of how you’d like to proceed in our work.
