About me and my therapy practice
Hello and welcome! I'm Ahmana, a qualified Integrative Counsellor who works with adults.
If you’re here, life may be feeling difficult for you right now or you may be feeling 'stuck'. Your work and home life, relationships and self-image may be impacted. I've worked with individuals from all sorts of social, cultural and ethnic backgrounds who have brought many different topics to counselling. I appreciate each persons' uniqueness and am trained in various approaches, so we’d be able to find what counselling style works best for you and the problems you are coming to counselling with.
I offer online, open ended sessions, which means a limitless number of sessions are available to you. Longer term work can allow the time for deeper, foundational changes to occur in your life as you undertake this investment in yourself. Throughout our time together, we would also regularly review the work done together and any progress you may have made, before reaching an agreed, expected ending.
Practice description
I view individuals holistically, considering important context behind the reasons you may be coming to counselling with. I take a non-judgmental approach to whatever you choose to bring into sessions, helping you to explore what has happened and what meaning you have made of your difficulties.
Sessions with me may consist of us exploring links, patterns and themes across your life and how these may be related to your current problems. We may consider how you would like things to be different in your life and I may offer alternative perspectives and practical suggestions at times.
Counselling with me can offer you a space to process difficulties, gain insight into your problems and make sense of experiences, situations and relationships.
I offer a free discovery call for anybody who would like to see if we are the right fit before any commitment to sessions. There is no pressure to know what to say or where to start, I welcome you as you are. If you would like to book a call, please drop me a message.
My first session
Our first session together would involve speaking about the professional boundaries around counselling, what has brought you to counselling at this point in your life and what you would like to get out of counselling.
Many people feel nervous when attending their first session. There is no expectation to speak about deeply sensitive or hurtful experiences right off the bat. Overtime, we would hopefully build a sense of trust and emotional safety within the therapeutic relationship to allow you to feel comfortable enough to open up as sessions progress.
