About me and my therapy practice
I offer in-person sessions in Falkirk and online via zoom, specialising in individual therapy.
As a qualified Transactional Analysis Counsellor I am dedicated to providing a safe and supportive space for individuals seeking counselling & psychotherapy and strongly believe in the power of therapy to facilitate healing and growth.
I bring warmth, kindness, and genuine compassion to all sessions along with curiosity, challenge and respect.
I first started training in Transactional Analysis in 2010, a collaborative, empowering approach that explores how past experiences, especially childhood, shape current thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Together, we will explore your experiences, uncover patterns that may be holding you back, deepen your self-awareness and create the foundations for lasting change.
Having experienced the value of therapy I appreciate the importance of taking this step and am glad you are embarking on this journey.
My previous career managing individuals and teams has given me invaluable experience in supporting people achieve their goals. Having built a successful career in both manufacturing and office environments, I understand the pressures that come from wanting to perform at your best, whilst maintaining a healthy life balance and nurturing, meaningful relationships.
Over the past 15 years, I have trained extensively to change my career - as well as four years of Transactional Analysis Counselling & Psychotherapy training I have developed skills in Neuro Linguistic Programming and Life Coaching. I also bring substantial counselling experience volunteering for mental health charities.
Being adopted at birth, I have a particular interest in how early childhood experiences and developmental trauma can shape us later in life.
Outside of my professional life, I love animals, have a passion for mindfulness in nature, and enjoy learning anything that deepens my understanding of people and the world around me.
Practice description
Transactional Analysis (TA) therapy provides a practical framework for understanding personality, communication and relationships. It's a collaborative, empowering approach that explores how past experiences, especially childhood, shape current thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
Based on what you want to change, our sessions will be uniquely tailored to you.
Understanding your thoughts, feelings and emotions:
I create a safe, supportive space for us to explore your thoughts and feelings, helping you identify what positive change looks like for you. Working together we will analyse past interactions and identify recurring behaviours or thought patterns, with the aim of gaining deeper insight into your behaviours and processing your emotions, breaking free from limiting patterns and achieving personal growth.
Communication and relationships:
So much of our anxiety, low self esteem, worry and relationship breakdown is due to how we view ourselves and how we communicate with others.
Through our sessions you will learn how to recognise your triggers, communicate more effectively and express yourself in ways that promote understanding rather than conflict.
Some of the key themes we may explore are identifying internal conflicts, developing self compassion and breaking patterns.
Empowerment and personal growth:
Through Transactional Analysis therapy, the aim is to support you in developing greater autonomy — reclaiming your spontaneity, deepening your awareness, fostering intimacy, and taking meaningful control of your life.
We can also work together to explore your core values and sense of purpose, ensuring that the goals you set are aligned with what truly matters to you.
My first session
Once you get in touch, we’ll schedule a free 20minute introductory phone call where we can talk through your reasons for seeking therapy, get to know one another and decide if we want to work together. If you decide to progress we’ll schedule our first 50 minute session, either in person, or online – whichever works best for you.
Before our first session, I’ll send you an intake form to complete, which allows you to think a bit more about what you want from therapy.
During our first session, we’ll explore your reasons for seeking therapy in more depth, and what you would like to change. Transactional analysis therapy sessions tend to be weekly, although fortnightly can be considered.
Counselling and Psychotherapy are both talking therapies, with psychotherapy generally involving deeper, longer-term exploration of root causes and personality patterns, aiming for more profound change. Counselling tends to focus more on shorter term solutions for specific present-day issues or challenges.
As a Transactional Analysis therapist, I believe that our past plays a significant role in shaping our present.
Early childhood experiences influence the development of our personality, our worldview, and the patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving that become ingrained over time. As a result, unconscious experiences from the past can continue to play out in our current relationships.
So although talking about the past in therapy cannot change what has happened, it can transform how you feel about yourself and how you approach future situations.
