About me and my therapy practice
Starting therapy can feel like a big step. My aim is that, before long, it simply feels like you’re talking to someone who genuinely wants to understand you.
You don’t need to have the right words before you come. You don’t need to know exactly why you’re struggling or have a clear idea of what you want from therapy. Whether life feels overwhelming, you’re carrying something painful, or you’re simply tired of coping on your own, we begin wherever you are.
I’m a warm, down-to-earth therapist who believes the relationship we build is at the heart of good therapy. I won’t hide behind therapeutic jargon or expect you to carry the conversation alone. My role is to walk alongside you, helping you make sense of your experiences in a way that feels supportive, genuine and tailored to you.
I know how important it is to find someone you feel comfortable with. Therapy isn’t about being judged or having all the answers. It’s about having a space where you can simply be yourself.
Practice description
Every person who walks through my door has their own story, which is why I don’t believe therapy should follow a script. I adapt my approach to the individual sitting in front of me, working at a pace that feels right for you.
Some sessions may involve gently exploring patterns that are keeping you stuck. Others may simply be about having somewhere to finally exhale. There may be tears, moments of clarity and, sometimes, even laughter. Whatever the session brings, we’ll work together to help you better understand yourself and move towards lasting change.
Many people tell me they worried they wouldn’t know what to say or that their problems weren’t “serious enough” for therapy. There is no right way to do therapy. You won’t be expected to perform, and if all you can bring is that you’re exhausted and don’t know where to start, that’s enough.
When we’re together, my focus is on you. I don’t spend our sessions writing notes because I believe being fully present is an important part of creating a trusting therapeutic relationship.
I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, grief, trauma, life transitions and many of the everyday challenges that come with being human.
My first session
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and for you to share what has brought you to therapy. We will explore what is happening for you right now, what you're hoping to gain from counselling, and what kind of support feels most helpful.
I will explain how i work, answer any questions you may have, and together we can get a sense of whether the fit feels right for you. There is absolutely no pressure to book further sessions as it is important that you feel comfortable, understood and supported from the very beginning.
