About me and my therapy practice

Hey, how are you? No....how are you actually?

So many of us answer “fine” on autopilot, but is that the truth? It is all too common to silently hide the heavy burden of pain from our past or the overwhelming pressure of the present. We often keep these struggles to ourselves—whether through fear of judgment, not wanting to worry those we love, or simply because we feel we have no one to trust.

If you feel like you are carrying this weight with nowhere to turn, life can start to feel unbearable. You might feel out of control, exhausted, and hopeless. You may be finding it difficult to function, struggling with disturbed sleep or eating patterns, or feeling the urge to lock yourself away from others.

Please know that you don’t have to face this alone.

I will provide a safe environment where you can speak openly about your pain and worries without fear of judgment. Walking alongside you, I will help you rediscover your innate strength and clarity. I won’t tell you what you must or shouldn’t do. Instead, we will work together to build a future where you feel grounded, back in control and able to make lasting, positive change.

I take an integrative approach to counselling. This means I work within a theoretical framework that draws from several different counselling approaches, including Person-Centred, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). You may recognise these approaches, but it’s fine if you don’t. It just means I have training which allows me to adapt to the way you want or need to work. Whether you are looking for deep insight into past experiences or practical strategies for the present, I am equipped to adapt my way of working to help you achieve your goals.

Practice description

My Qualifications & Experience:

I am a highly qualified practitioner, holding a Master of Science degree (MSc) in Integrative Counselling from the University of Northampton. This is a Level 7 qualification, representing one of the highest standards of academic training in the field. I also hold CPCAB (Level Two and Three) certificates in counselling and have undertaken extensive specialist training for online and telephone therapy.

My experience is broad and diverse. I currently work as a therapist for a high-profile national mental health charity alongside my busy private practice. Over the years, I have supported clients ranging from ages 16 to 70, helping them navigate a wide spectrum of mental health challenges and social issues.

Special Interest: Exceptional Experiences

As part of my postgraduate studies, I conducted research into the therapy needs of individuals who have had "exceptional experiences" (sometimes called anomalous or paranormal experiences). I am also a member of the BACP Spirituality Specialist Division.

While you certainly do not need to have had such an experience to work with me, my research has given me a deep understanding of how difficult it can be to process events that sit outside the norm—whether they occur in everyday life or during times of intense stress or bereavement. I offer an open-minded, non-judgmental space to explore these experiences if they are part of your story.

My Private Practice

I run a private practice from a recently renovated private garden office at my home. My location is in a tranquil rural setting within easy reach of Cambridge, Bedford, Baldock, Hitchin and Biggleswade. On-street parking is easy and unrestricted.

My first session

Am I right for you?

I know finding the right therapist is really important, so I offer a free 15-minute introductory call. This gives us a chance to discuss your needs, check availability, and answer any initial questions you may have. There is absolutely no pressure to book immediately—you are very welcome to take time to reflect on whether I feel like the right fit for you.

If you choose to proceed, our first scheduled session will be an initial assessment (50 minutes). While this session offers a supportive space, our primary goal will be to build a clear picture of your difficulties and to start to think about your goals. Most importantly, it gives you the opportunity to experience how I work and ensure you feel comfortable with me before committing to therapy.
