About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I’m Sean, here’s a bit about how I work with children and young adults.
Sometimes it can feel hard to put thoughts and feelings into words. You might not even be sure what you’re feeling, just that something doesn’t feel right. That’s okay.
I don’t believe there’s a one-size-fits-all way to do counselling. Everyone is different, so we’ll work in a way that suits you, your personality, what you’re going through and what feels most comfortable. We’ll go at your pace, and you’ll always have a say in what our sessions look like.
Talking is just one way to express yourself. If talking feels awkward or intense, we can use creative approaches such as:
- Art and drawing
- Sand tray therapy
- Play therapy
- Creative activities and storytelling
- Movement or walk-and-talk sessions
These approaches can help you explore feelings in a way that feels safer, and more natural. There’s no need to have the “right words”; we’ll figure things out together.
At the heart of my work is the belief that you are the expert on you. My role is to listen, understand and support you as you make sense of your experiences and build confidence in handling life’s challenges.
A note for Parents and Carers
Choosing the right counsellor for your child is an important decision. You want to know they will feel safe, respected and genuinely understood.
My approach is warm, relational and developmentally appropriate. I create a space where children and young people can explore their thoughts and emotions safely, whether through conversation or creative therapeutic methods such as art, sand tray, and play therapy.
I understand the importance of balance, so I offer young clients a confidential space while also working collaboratively with parents where appropriate. We can agree together how communication will work so that your child feels secure, and you feel informed and supported.
If you’d like to find out more about how I work or discuss whether counselling might be helpful, I’d be happy to have an initial conversation.
Practice description
A little bit about me
I currently work as a child counsellor in two schools and also see children and young adults through my private practice.
My path to becoming a counsellor grew out of a 20-year career in education, where I worked as both a teacher and a leader. During that time, I was always drawn to the pastoral side of school life, being there for young people and their families through the ups and downs that come with school and home life. I’ve also worked as a mental health coordinator and as an education and practitioner with children who were chronically disengaged from education, which gave me a deeper understanding of the challenges many young people face.
I have spent many years working closely with neurodiverse children and young adults, and this work is something I care deeply about. I am passionate about understanding each individual’s unique strengths, challenges, and ways of experiencing the world. My approach is gentle, flexible, and affirming, focused on building trust, emotional safety, and practical skills at a pace that feels right for each person. I strive to create a space where neurodiversity is respected, celebrated, and supported.

Next steps
If you’re thinking about starting counselling, you can get in touch by phone or email to book a free 30-minute session. This can be in person or online, whatever feels easiest for you.
That first meeting is just a chance for us to talk things through, how counselling might work, what you’re looking for, and any practical stuff like meeting online or face-to-face. You can also ask any questions you have. There’s no pressure to decide anything straight away.
Your first full session is about getting to know each other and helping you feel comfortable. The focus is completely on you and what’s going on for you. About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I’m Sean.
Life can feel overwhelming at times. I support adults experiencing stress, anxiety, grief, relationship or identity challenges, and neurodiversity. Together, we create a safe, understanding space where you can be heard, feel supported, and we can find a way forward at a pace that feels right for you. My aim is to help you explore your strengths, gain clarity, and take steps toward a more balanced and fulfilling life.
My journey into counselling grew from a 20-year career in education, where I worked as a teacher and later as a leader. During that time, I was always drawn to the pastoral side of school life, being there for young people and families, supporting them through the ups and downs of school and home life. Those experiences, along with my roles as a mental health coordinator and youth advice practitioner, have given me a deep understanding of the emotional and practical challenges that adults face.
How I might help you
Are you finding it hard to move forward after losing someone you love? Together, we can gently explore what you’re feeling and find a way to move through it at your own pace.
Is stress or anxiety making everyday life feel heavy? You don’t have to face it alone. We can look at what’s contributing to these feelings and discover practical ways to help you feel more calm and in control.
Are you feeling unsure of who you are or navigating big changes in life? It’s natural to question yourself during these times. I can help you reconnect with your values, your strengths, and what truly matters to you.
Are relationships or family challenges leaving you frustrated or drained? Together, we can explore these dynamics and find ways to communicate, cope, and feel more confident in your interactions.
Do you feel stuck, low in confidence, or uncertain about your next steps? I’m here to help you reflect, uncover your strengths, and take small steps forward in a way that feels right for you.
Practice description
I’m a Humanistic Integrative Counsellor and a registered member of the BACP. My job is to offer a safe, supportive space where you can talk things through and be yourself; no pressure, no judgement.
I don’t believe there’s a one-size-fits-all way to do counselling. Everyone’s different, so we’ll work in a way that suits you, your personality, what you’re dealing with, and what feels comfortable. We’ll go at your pace, and you’ll always have a say in what our sessions look like.
At the heart of my work is the belief that you know yourself better than anyone else. I’m here to listen, understand, and support you as you make sense of your thoughts and feelings. You don’t have to have the “right words”, we’ll figure things out together.
If talking feels hard, that’s okay. I often use creative ways of working too, like art, drawing, or activities, which can make expressing yourself feel easier and less intense.
If sitting still isn’t your thing, that’s totally fine; we can walk, move around, or do something that feels more comfortable.
Counselling with me is about working together in a way that feels relaxed, supportive, and real, helping you feel more understood, more confident, and better able to handle whatever life is throwing at you.
My first session
Please contact me by phone or email to arrange a free 30 minute session (online or face to face). This gives us the opportunity to have a conversation about how we might work together, including the counselling agreement and practical considerations, such as whether you would prefer to sessions to be online or face-to-face. It’s also a chance for you to ask any questions you may have.
Your first full counselling session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and for you to feel comfortable in the counselling space. The focus is entirely on you and your experience. There’s no agenda, no tests, and no pressure to have all the answers. This session is simply about beginning to explore how you feel and what has brought you here.
