About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I'm Katie and I'm a qualified integrative therapist, working both face to face and online. I work with different modalities, dependent on discussing and agreeing with the individual client how to best suit their needs.
I offer support for individuals who are looking to work through their issues, be they past, present or both.
If you're experiencing disruption to your nervous system, I can help you to "live" each day again instead of "just getting through it". If you're thinking "I know something's weighing on me, holding me back but I don't know what it is" it's ok, you don't have to know. Equally, you may feel you DO know what the issue is. Whatever you bring, we can work together to find the most effective way for you to achieve the outcomes you desire.
I understand from personal experience that the very thought of therapy can feel challenging or even scary but I know that having my feelings validated without being judged, compared or steered, was unexpectedly transformational. I want to support you to achieve the benefits of therapy, understand your self worth and your value and make the changes you feel you want to make.
I have experience of working with issues such as depression, anxiety, BPD, OCD, sexual abuse, physical abuse, mental abuse, self-harm, suicide ideation, bereavement, special educational needs. These are simply a sample and not an exhaustive list, so, I warmly welcome you to get in touch for support with whatever is on your mind.
Practice description
It is your therapy, the relationship is collaborative and my role is to support and help you to effectively achieve your aims, not to tell you what to do.
I continuously train to provide the most effective counselling therapy I can. Currently for example, I have completed training in Drugs awareness, Trauma-informed therapy in relationships, Safeguarding, further and extensive CBT training and some Autism-informed training, to name a few.
Working in different modalities allows me to draw on multiple therapeutic techniques to accommodate and support a wide variety of issues. I adapt my practice as needed, to work in the most helpful and effective way for the individual client. This includes incorporating for example, art therapy, visual aids, craft aids and more, to enhance the therapeutic process and ensure it is accessible and comfortable for each. All adaptations are available to all clients at any time.
I offer short term, medium and long term contracts. CBT focussed therapy for example, is ordinarily shorter term (roughly 7 to 12 sessions) whereas, person-centred typically continues for longer. Duration is something we discuss and agree together and the time scale can also be revised as we progress through sessions.
My first session
I offer an initial 20 minute consultation free of charge. This takes place online or via telephone and gives us the opportunity to discuss your needs and how we might best work together.
The initial consultation is obligation free.
