About me and my therapy practice
As a Person-Centred counsellor, my work is grounded in empathy, warmth and authentic connection. I believe that when we feel truly heard and accepted, meaningful change can begin. In a compassionate space, we are able to explore our experiences openly and reconnect with our inner resilience. My aim is to offer you that space — one where you can speak freely, without judgement or pressure, and move at a pace that feels right for you.
I don’t see therapy as giving advice or directing you towards solutions. Instead, I view our work as a collaborative partnership. I trust that you are the expert in your own life, and I will walk alongside you as you develop greater clarity, self-understanding and emotional well-being.
I have particular experience supporting clients with alcohol and substance misuse, addiction and recovery, body dysphoria, and addictive personality patterns. I also work with anxiety, loss, low self-esteem and the sense of feeling “stuck”. Where helpful, I can gently integrate solution-focused techniques to explore challenges within relationships, career, education or personal growth.
Alongside individual therapy, I support couples experiencing relationship difficulties, and athletes or those transitioning out of sport who may be adjusting to changes in identity and purpose. My background in education, including qualifying as a SENCO, has given me valuable insight into working with young people and families navigating additional pressures.
While my foundation is the Person-Centred approach, I may draw on other therapeutic models where appropriate, always keeping your needs at the centre of our work.
I offer sessions face-to-face, online, by telephone, or as walk-and-talk therapy. Home visits may be available depending on location and can be discussed, with an additional fee where applicable.
My intention is to create a supportive environment where you can reconnect with your strengths and sense of self.
Practice description
Reaching out for counselling can feel like a big and sometimes vulnerable step. You might be feeling overwhelmed, unsure of yourself, caught in difficult patterns, or simply aware that something doesn’t feel quite right. Whatever has brought you here, you will be met with warmth, respect and understanding.
I offer a gentle, compassionate space where you can slow down and begin to make sense of your experiences. As a Person-Centred counsellor, I believe that when we feel truly listened to — without judgement or expectation — we begin to reconnect with our own inner strength and wisdom. Our sessions are led by you and what feels most important to explore.
I work with individuals facing challenges such as alcohol and substance misuse, addiction and recovery, body dysphoria, anxiety, low self-esteem, loss, and feelings of being “stuck.” I also support couples navigating relationship difficulties and athletes adjusting to transitions within or beyond sport, particularly where identity and purpose may feel uncertain.
Alongside this, I work with young people and families, drawing on my background in education and my qualification as a SENCO. This experience has given me a deeper understanding of the pressures young people face and the impact this can have on confidence, wellbeing and relationships.
I offer sessions face-to-face, online, by telephone, and as walk-and-talk therapy. Home visits may be available depending on location and can be discussed.
Above all, my intention is to create a safe and trusting space where you feel heard, valued and supported as you move towards greater clarity, balance and self-understanding.
My first session
I offer a free 30-minute, no-obligation introductory session so you can get a sense of whether I feel like the right fit for you. This gives us the opportunity to briefly talk about what has brought you to counselling, ask any questions you may have, and see how it feels to connect. There is no pressure to commit — it is simply a space for you to decide what feels right.
If you choose to continue, our first full session will last one hour. Taking that next step can feel daunting, so I aim to make this initial session as comfortable and supportive as possible. It is an opportunity for us to begin building a trusting relationship and to explore, at your pace, what you would like to gain from therapy.
During this session, we will gently look at what is happening for you and consider how I can best support you. I will also explain how I work as a Person-Centred counsellor, discuss confidentiality and its boundaries, and answer any practical questions you may have. There is no expectation to share everything straight away — this is your space.
If we decide to move forward together, we can agree on the most suitable way to work, whether face-to-face, online, by telephone, or through walk-and-talk sessions. Home visits may also be available depending on location, and any additional fee for travel can be discussed.
My standard session fee applies to all one-hour sessions.
