About me and my therapy practice
My aim is to create a space where you can be yourself without fear of judgement.
Everyone is unique so even if you’ve experienced the same situation as someone else, you’ll both be impacted differently. Which means you’ll both process it differently, too.
As an integrative counsellor, I tailor my approach to suit you and your specific needs.
I work in a flexible and collaborative way with you, drawing on techniques from person-centred, psychodynamic, Gestalt and solution-focussed approaches. My priority is to create a space where you feel safe to be yourself and speak about whatever is on your mind, without fear of judgement.
I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I follow the BACP ethical framework which has been designed to make the counselling experience as positive, safe, and effective as possible for you.
Practice description
There’s no “right” way to do therapy. Here’s how to get started and what happens next.
Beginning
To get started, send me an email and I’ll get back to you within 24 hours.
We’ll then arrange a free, no-obligation, 15-minute introductory session so we can see if working together feels like a good fit. After that, we’ll agree on either a fixed number of sessions or a more open-ended approach. We will typically meet weekly, but if you’d like to have sessions every other week, we can discuss this.
Middle
Therapy is a fluid process. We might explore the same theme or topic for a few weeks in a row, or there may be sessions where you’re not really sure what to say. It’s all part of the process and progress is rarely linear, but I’ll be with you every step of the way.
Whether you’ve decided on a fixed number or sessions or an open-ended approach, we’ll review the work as we go.
End
When you’re ready to stop counselling, we’ll have a final session to reflect on the work and conclude the process.
My first session
In our first session we will begin by reviewing the counselling contract and agreeing our terms for working together. You will have the opportunity to ask me any questions you may have about my ways of working and we will discuss your goals and expectations from therapy.
