Availability
I currently have availability within my practice and welcome enquiries from new clients.
I work flexibly, offering both in-person and online counselling. Face-to-face sessions are available from a Formby and/or Birkdale therapy room. Online sessions can be arranged at a range of times across the week.
I understand that everyone’s circumstances are different, and I am often able to offer some flexibility once we have spoken. During a free initial consultation, we can discuss your availability and explore whether alternative times may be possible, including evenings or occasional weekend sessions by arrangement.
If I am due to take planned time off, this will be discussed in advance wherever possible and managed collaboratively within the therapeutic relationship.
If you would like to ask any questions or explore availability before committing to therapy, please feel free to get in touch.
About me and my therapy practice
I’m Tanya Wright, a BACP-registered integrative psychotherapist. I work with adults, providing a safe, confidential space to explore life’s challenges and build greater self-understanding. My aim is to support you in developing insight, resilience, and practical tools to navigate difficult emotions, relationships, and patterns of behaviour. I work with a wide range of issues including stress, anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, self-esteem concerns, and life transitions.
How I Work
I take an integrative approach, tailoring therapy to suit each individual. This means I draw on different therapeutic models and techniques, including psychodynamic, person-centred, and somatic approaches, depending on your needs. My work often involves exploring underlying emotions, relational patterns, and past experiences, while also focusing on practical strategies for managing the present.
I value collaboration and strive to create a warm, non-judgemental space where you can feel heard, understood, and supported. My clients often describe me as calm, attentive, and empathetic. Sessions can be held in person or online, typically lasting 50 minutes, providing flexibility to suit your needs. Together, we can explore your experiences, uncover what might be holding you back, and work towards meaningful change and personal growth.
Practice description
I provide a warm, supportive, and confidential space for adults to explore life’s challenges and build self-understanding. My practice is client-led, meaning our work focuses on what matters most to you, at a pace that feels safe and manageable. I work with a wide range of issues, including anxiety, low mood, stress, self-esteem challenges, relationship difficulties, and life transitions.
I take an integrative approach, drawing on psychodynamic, person-centred, and somatic methods. This allows us to explore emotions, relational patterns, and past experiences, while also paying attention to how experiences are held in the body. We may focus on physical sensations, tension, or bodily responses as a pathway to insight and emotional regulation.
In sessions, you can expect a collaborative, non-judgemental environment where your experience guides the work. My aim is to support you in understanding what is happening for you, developing practical tools for coping, and fostering personal growth. Sessions are usually 50 minutes and can be held in person or online, offering flexibility to suit your needs.
My first session
The first session is an important opportunity to set the foundation for our work together. During this session, we focus on contracting, agreeing on boundaries, confidentiality, and how we will work together so that you feel safe, supported, and clear about the therapeutic process.
We also explore your hopes for therapy and what you would like to achieve. This helps us identify what matters most to you and provides a framework for assessing progress over time. I encourage open conversation about what will help you feel the work is useful, and I offer transparency, honesty, and collaboration throughout.
This session is client-led, meaning your experience, priorities, and pace guide the discussion. It’s a space to ask questions, raise concerns, and clarify expectations, ensuring we begin with mutual understanding and clarity.
By the end of the first session, you will have a clear sense of how therapy can work for you, the boundaries of our work together, and practical ways to evaluate whether the sessions are meeting your needs. This foundation supports a safe, effective, and personalised therapeutic journey.
