About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I'm Jordan, an Integrative Counsellor and a Registered Member of the BACP.

Inclusivity is important to me, and I welcome people from all backgrounds, identities, and life experiences.

I work with adults and young people aged 11 and over, supporting people through a wide range of experiences and difficulties. I understand that everyone's circumstances are different, which is why I aim to meet you where you are and work at a pace that feels right for you.

I offer a warm, friendly, and non-judgmental space where you can feel comfortable being yourself, talk openly, and explore whatever feels important to you. I believe counselling should be a space where you feel listened to, respected and accepted, without feeling judged or pressured.

As an Integrative Counsellor, I draw on Person-Centered, Psychodynamic, and CBT approaches. This allows me to adapt the way I work depending on your individual needs, rather than expecting everyone to fit one particular approach.

I have also experienced therapy myself before becoming a counsellor, so I understand that taking that first step and talking to someone new can feel daunting. I know how important it can be to feel comfortable with the person you're talking to and to feel that you can be open and honest without judgement.

Practice description

Everyone has their own experiences and ways of making sense of things, and I want to understand you as an individual rather than make assumptions about what you need.

I work with adults and young people aged 11 and over, supporting a wide range of presenting issues including anxiety, health anxiety, stress, low self-esteem and confidence, friendships and relationships, bullying, bereavement and loss, difficult childhood or past experiences, motivation, emotional wellbeing, school-related difficulties and experiences relating to neurodiversity, as well as many other presenting issues.

I'm not someone who believes there is only one way to approach counselling. Sometimes you may simply need someone to listen and give you space to talk openly. At other times, it may be helpful to explore your thoughts and feelings more deeply, ask questions you may not have considered or gently look at things from a different perspective.

As an Integrative Counsellor, I draw on Person-Centred, Psychodynamic and CBT approaches, adapting the way I work to suit your individual needs. This may involve exploring past experiences and relationships, understanding patterns that may be affecting you today, or using practical tools to help you manage difficult thoughts and feelings.

I recognise that starting counselling can feel daunting, and there is no pressure to talk about everything straight away. We can work at a pace that feels comfortable for you, regularly checking in about how you're finding our sessions and what feels most helpful.

My aim is to provide a warm, supportive and non-judgemental space where you feel heard, understood and able to be yourself. Whether you know exactly what you'd like to explore or aren't sure where to begin, we can work through it together

My first session

It's completely normal to feel nervous about starting counselling, particularly if it's your first time. You might know exactly what you'd like support with, or you may simply feel that something isn't quite right. Either way, you don't need to have everything figured out before reaching out.

I offer a free 20-minute initial consultation, giving us an opportunity to meet, talk briefly about what has brought you to counselling and discuss what you're hoping to get from it. It's also a chance for you to ask any questions, get a feel for how I work and, importantly, see whether you feel comfortable with me.

Finding the right counsellor is an important part of the process. It's about finding someone you feel comfortable talking to, who you can build a trusting relationship with and who understands what you're looking for from counselling. My initial consultation gives us both an opportunity to see whether we feel we'd be a good fit to work together, with no pressure or obligation to continue.

If we decide to work together, our first full session will give us more time to get to know each other and discuss what you'd like support with. We'll also go through the counselling agreement, including confidentiality, its limits and any questions you may have, so you have a clear understanding of how counselling works and what to expect.

There's no expectation to share everything straight away. We can take things at a pace that feels right for you, building trust and working together to create a space where you feel comfortable being yourself.
