About me and my therapy practice
Psychodynamic Therapy for teenagers and young adults in Colchester, Chelmsford and Online.
I work psychodynamically, which means our sessions will involve reflections on the past, comparisons and connections to the present, and reflecting actively on the here and now in the therapy room. I'll reflect with you on what's going on in your inner world and how you're experiencing the world around you to help you deepen your understanding of your presenting issues, whether that's anxiety, depression or a variety of other presentations.
Within your sessions, I will provide a non-judgemental, empathetic, emotionally safe environment where your voice can be heard and your feelings, understood.
You may find my services useful if you are experiencing issues such as depression, anxiety, low confidence, low self esteem, impact of trauma, identity exploration or exam anxiety.
You will be treated with respect and dignity first and foremost, and encouraged to take up space in the room.
Practice description
I offer weekly or bi-weekly sessions in Chelmsford and in Colchester and online. Within our sessions my in-person clients are welcome to access a variety of fidget toys, games like jenga and uno and art supplies to take the pressure off of talking- although just talking is fine too!
Online sessions take place on Teams via a link sent the day of each session.
My first session
I offer a free consultation phone call to discuss logistics of sessions and give my clients and/or their parents/guardians to ask any questions about me or the therapeutic process.
The first session is typically booked within this consultation call. I will explain my policies regarding session attendance and confidentiality and give my clients an idea of what the process might look like.
I will be conducting an informal assessment throughout the first few sessions and reflecting on what you choose to share about yourself and evaluating my capacity to work with you.
After the first session I encourage my clients and (where applicable) their parents to go and have a think about how they feel about attending regular sessions.
