About me and my therapy practice

I offer person-centred counselling in Lancaster and online for adults experiencing anxiety, stress, bereavement, trauma, low self-worth, relationship difficulties, emotional exhaustion or a sense of feeling overwhelmed.

My approach is grounded in empathy, acceptance and honesty. I do not tell clients what to do or position myself as the expert on their lives. Instead, I work alongside you at a pace that feels manageable, offering a calm and confidential space where you can speak openly and begin to make sense of what you are experiencing.

Many people come to counselling after coping outwardly for a long time while struggling internally. You may feel anxious, disconnected, low in mood, affected by grief or difficult relationships, or unsure why life no longer feels sustainable. You do not need to have everything figured out before getting in touch.

Alongside private practice, I also work in the charity sector supporting adults with a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties.

Practice description

Acoustic Counselling offers individual person-centred counselling for adults at Cameron House in Lancaster and online across the UK. Clients travelling from Morecambe and nearby areas are welcome. Sessions provide a calm, confidential and accepting space where you can explore whatever feels important, without being judged, analysed, rushed or told what to do.

The person-centred approach is based on the belief that people often move towards growth and change when they feel deeply heard, understood and accepted. I aim to offer empathy, honesty and acceptance so that you can begin to make sense of your own experiences in your own way.

You may want to explore anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, stress, emotional exhaustion, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, neurodivergence, work stress, retirement, identity or life changes. You may also simply feel that something is wrong but not yet know how to explain it. Both are welcome.

For online sessions, I mainly use Microsoft Teams and Google Meet, with other video platforms available by agreement. We confirm the platform and joining instructions before your session.

My first session

Before arranging a first counselling session, I offer a free 20-minute introductory telephone call. This is not a counselling session, but it gives you a chance to ask questions, get a sense of how I work and decide whether arranging a first session feels right.

The first counselling session itself lasts 50 minutes and is charged at £50. During this session, we can begin to explore what has brought you to counselling, what you may hope for from the work, and any questions you have about confidentiality, online counselling, fees or how sessions usually work.
