About me and my therapy practice
Welcome. I offer professional psychotherapy designed to help you gain clarity, build strength, and create lasting change. Movement away from pain, towards recovery and a better quality of life. I work with you and your goals in mind, through a trauma-informed approach, with mindfulness and care. Therapy with me is collaborative and grounded. We focus on understanding the roots of problems rather than just managing symptoms, creating space for real and sustainable change.
How I can help: I have over twenty years of experience working with people whose lives have been impacted by work stress, abuse, violence, family and relationship issues, addiction, abandonment, the pressure to provide for others, anxiety, phobias, the impact of social media and fame, and depression. I also work with people who struggle with behaviours they’re not proud of and want to understand themselves better so they can treat others differently or be kinder to themselves.
I understand the reluctance many people feel when approaching therapy for the first time. It is easy to see it as a weakness, but it takes considerable strength to challenge stigma, take a risk on someone else, and begin the work. I look forward to hearing from you, so please get in touch.
Specialist Areas: My written psychological work on gender and masculinity in relation to mental health has been published by the Journal of Psychodynamic Practice and is taught on the University of London's Masters syllabus as a core text for trainee therapists. This work includes a special awareness of coping mechanisms used by those from traumatic or difficult circumstances, particularly those without a healthy support network. Because of this, I offer discounted rates for people on low income, past and present key workers, emergency responders and armed services. As well as anyone experiencing suicidal ideation.
Before working in private practice, my work included roles within the NHS, bereavement services and the criminal justice system.
Practice description
My practice is one-to-one work for adults and young adults, in person or online. I work in 50 minute slots, ideally weekly for best impact, but other arrangements can be discussed in the initial consultation.
I have experience in both short or fixed term, goal focused work, and more expansive long-term and open-ended work - which would be best for you in your circumstances can be thought about together.
