About me and my therapy practice
I'm currently a Gestalt trained counsellor, what this means is that I believe that all people have a need for human connection, growth, healing and self-knowledge.
Gestalt celebrates peoples uniqueness I felt this was really important to me. It taught me to be more myself and in turn I hope to be able to help you do the same.
Gestalt teaches us to be open minded and curious about ourselves and the patterns we adopt to get through life, how there's no right or wrong way to go about our lives, yet some patterns may become blocked or no longer useful. Sometimes we just get stuck and so through curiosity and exploration we can come to understand ourselves more and find new ways to do things.
Together you and I will build a relationship where we can experiment with what you may need in a non judgemental way to help explore yourself and potentially build new techniques to become more flexible within yourself.
Practice description
As a Gestalt Counsellor I use a variety of methods to facilitate self-expression. We can work creatively encouraging clients to bring all forms of expression into therapy sessions, including dreams, art, music, writing, poetry, movement and dance. Central to this process is the therapeutic relationship.
Sessions last 50 minutes and are at the same day and time each week. They currently take place online with some face to face sessions in Amersham
My first session
It's often difficult to know where to start finding a therapist so my approach is step-by-step. After you contact me we will find a time to talk on either on the phone or online so that we can each find out more about one another. You will also have the opportunity to ask about how I work. I imagine this will last around 20 minutes
There is no obligation or charge for this.
I know it can be hard to make the first contact. If you find it easier to start by email or text please make a note on the contact form.
After that initial contact if you feel you want to work with me we will book in an assessment session. This will be used to go over the contract and also to get more of your backstory/history and what you need, this will also be where we work out a regular time slot to meet. This can either be online or face to face and will be at our agreed session costs.
