About me and my therapy practice
Choosing a counsellor can feel like a big step. I offer a warm, flexible approach shaped around what works for you.As a pluralistic counsellor, I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all therapy.
I can offer creative counselling for those who find talking alone isn’t always enough. I also provide Animal and Equine Assisted Therapy, out-doors sessions and have a background in psychology, specialising in autism, ADHD, aphantasia, Tourette’s, and anxiety-based school refusal.
I work with adults, couples, and children aged 9+, offering sessions in my home based therapy room or online.
Practice description
I am a creative pluralistic counsellor who can offer a range of therapy styles including out-doors, equine or animal assisted therapy and more traditional talking therapies.
Online sessions can be taken from anywhere in the UK, with the option to meet with me in my office or outside with Cody (our horse). As long as you have a safe, confidential space, we can work around your needs.
In-person sessions can be either at my home based office or outside in our beautiful Aberdeenshire countryside. In some circumstances we can offer at home sessions for clients who are unable to leave their home.
Equine Assisted Therapy. We offer sessions in a paddock near Old Meldrum with Cody. Cody chooses for himself how much interaction he feels comfortable with, sessions may have no contact with him, or with him walking alongside us. E.A.T will only be available after several sessions without Cody to ensure it is a suitable option.
Animal Assisted Therapy. Momo is a five year old ragdoll cat who loves people. He can join in talking sessions and is given the space to either sit with you, or chill out in his safe spaces. Momo is never forced to have contact, and sessions with him are only available after several sessions without him to ensure that A.A.T is a suitable option.
Creative sessions can include varied art supplies, crafts, games, writing and other creative methods based around your interests.
My first session
Our first session:
Online - The first session can feel like a huge step, your head may be full of what you might want to talk about, will you like me, worries about whether I will like you, and even whether this is the right decision.
Before the session I will send out an email with a contract, contact forms, information on how I work and a form to explore your preferences.
In the session we will discuss this admin; find out more about your goals or aims and how we might be able to work together to meet this.
In-person -
As with the online sessions, we will talk through the contracting process, what your goals or aims are and how you feel you might like to work together. If you are wanting to explore E A.T or A.A.T we will discuss what this might look like.
