About me and my therapy practice
I'm Liz a qualified counsellor based in Whitstable.
I see the relationship between us as central to the healing process and I offer a warm, supportive and compassionate space where you can speak openly, feel truly heard and explore your thoughts and feelings with total acceptance, where you will be accepted unconditionally.
I work with people experiencing anxiety, stress, and other challenges that make everyday life seem overwhelming. Whether you're struggling with relationship issues and noticing unhelpful patterns, navigating change or loss, feeling disconnected from yourself or wanting to better understand yourself and grow, I'm here to support you in finding a way forward that feels right for you.
Together, we'll explore the challenges you are facing, and my aim is to empower you and support you in exploring your thoughts, feelings and experiences, helping to uncover insights and find solutions that feel right for you and bring about inner peace and personal growth.
What I offer:
I offer counselling that is flexible and accessible, tailored to your individual needs.
- Face-to-face sessions in my designated and comfortable therapy space- a log cabin in my garden
- Online therapy sessions via Microsoft Teams
- Telephone sessions
- Walk and Talk therapy sessions along the beautiful Kentish coastline between Whitstable and Herne Bay
How to begin:
Please email or call to get in touch if you have any questions at all about how I work, queries about what I offer, or to book a free initial appointment. I look forward to hearing from you.
Once I hear from you, we will arrange a free 20 minute initial consultation which can either be online or by telephone call. This will give us a chance to talk about what is bringing you to counselling and for you to ask me any questions or queries you may have about how I work and what I can offer. It gives you a chance to see if we might work together and be a good fit.
Practice description
I'm an integrative counsellor, which means I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches to tailor our work to your individual needs. Everyone is unique, and I believe counselling works best when it reflects who you are and what you need. This integrative framework allows me to work flexibly and collaboratively with you, supporting you to develop insight, emotional awareness, resilience and practical strategies for meaningful and lasting change.
I also work creatively, using Russian Dolls, cards, nature-inspired objects, drawing, writing, journaling, etc. Bringing creativity into sessions can help process and talk about difficult emotions when sometimes it's hard to find the right words. My work is always guided by you, and we work at your pace, ensuring we focus on what you want at all times.
With a background in nursing, I’ve spent years supporting people through some of life’s most challenging and vulnerable moments. This experience has taught me the value of empathy, patience, and truly listening to someone’s story. It has also given me a deep understanding of how our mind and body are connected, and how emotional stress can affect our overall wellbeing.
As a counsellor, I bring this insight into my practice, creating a safe and compassionate space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences without judgment. My goal is to support you in navigating life’s challenges, discovering new perspectives, and finding a sense of balance, growth, and empowerment.
My first session
Introductory Assessment appointment
Our first session will be slightly longer than a normal counselling session (60 mins). It will be about getting to know each other. I'll explain more about the counselling process, you'll have space to share what brings you to counselling in depth, and I'll ask questions about your life, relationships and experiences, and together we'll begin to understand your situation and identify areas we might focus on. There's absolutely no pressure to continue if you feel we are not a good fit.
