About me and my therapy practice
Life can be overwhelming at times, especially when you're navigating change, struggling in relationships, or feeling like you've lost confidence in yourself. I offer a warm, supportive space where you can talk openly without fear of judgement. Together, we can explore what's happening in your life, make sense of difficult thoughts and emotions, and help you move forwards.
I offer individual counselling to all adults and have a particular interest in the following areas:
- Relationships - supporting those who have been impacted by difficult or unhealthy relationships, whether partner, family member, friend or colleague. If something doesn’t feel right, it may be the time to reach out and talk about it.
- Anxiety and stress - helping you understand what lies beneath your worry, reduce overwhelm, and build resilience.
- Illness, bereavement and loss, including anticipatory grief – providing gentle, compassionate support as you navigate loss or change.
- Life transitions such as moving, academic or career changes, relationship endings, parenting, menopause, caring responsibilities, redundancy or retirement; offering an understanding and accepting space where you can explore how you feel.
I am here to listen to you, to help you make sense of the issues you bring and ensure you know you are not alone as you work your way through these difficulties.
Practice description
My priority is the person in front of me, whatever you bring. You may not know exactly what your difficulty is, you just know that something needs to change. Talking to someone who actively listens and supports you can be transformative, it really can help. Counselling can bring clarity, insight and greater self-awareness. If you are thinking about it and you are not sure what you are going through is important enough, please know that you matter and asking for support is a positive first step towards looking after yourself.
Choosing a counsellor is a personal decision and feeling comfortable with the person you talk to is essential. The therapeutic relationship is at the heart of meaningful change, so it’s important that you feel safe, understood and able to be yourself. I will offer you a consistent, confidential space where you can talk openly. I will be alongside you as you work out next steps.
In our sessions, you can expect empathy, honesty and acceptance. You should never feel you have to mask your feelings or pretend to be okay. Whether you are facing a specific difficulty, or simply feeling lost, overwhelmed or stuck, you are welcome exactly as you are. You don’t need to have everything figured out before you arrive, just bring yourself. Together we can explore what you are experiencing and gently uncover what you need to move forward.
My first session
I offer a free introductory chat by phone or Zoom (15-20 mins) and then, if you would like to progress, we will agree a session day, time and start date. I will email a working agreement for you to read through before we start our sessions together and we can discuss this during the first session.
Your first session is for you to bring the issues that you are troubling you so we can look at what you would like to focus on. It is a client-centred, collaborative way of working and you should feel safe, comfortable and supported. You should feel you can completely be yourself.
