Availability

I currently have availability for new clients and my working hours are flexible, including some daytime and evening appointments.

Session times are agreed collaboratively and I do my best to accommodate individual needs where possible. Availability may change depending on demand, but I will always be clear and transparent about this.

If I am due to take time off or will be unavailable for a period, I will inform clients in advance and discuss any necessary arrangements to ensure continuity and support.

About me and my therapy practice

Hello, my name is Karima, and I am a BACP-registered counsellor. I offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can feel safe to explore whatever is troubling you, at your own pace.

My core way of working is Person-Centred, meaning I value empathy, authenticity and unconditional positive regard as the foundation of the therapeutic relationship. Alongside this, I work psychodynamically, gently exploring how past experiences, early relationships and unconscious patterns may be influencing your present thoughts, emotions and relationships.

I work in a trauma-informed and attachment-aware way, recognising how experiences such as emotional neglect, abandonment, loss, or relational trauma can shape how we see ourselves and connect with others. Therapy with me is collaborative and reflective; I adapt my approach to your individual needs rather than using a rigid model.

I have experience working with adults in women’s services and hospice settings. I support clients who may be struggling with:

Anxiety and overwhelming emotions

Low mood and depression

Grief, loss and anticipatory grief

Relationship and attachment difficulties

Low self-esteem and self-worth

Emotional regulation

Feelings of abandonment, rejection or loneliness

The impact of past or ongoing trauma

Emotional abuse

Stress

Loneliness

Identity issues

Life transitions

As a counsellor, I believe that meaningful change happens within a trusting and emotionally safe relationship. You do not need to have everything figured out or know exactly what to say; we can explore your experiences together, with curiosity and care. My aim is to help you develop greater self-understanding, emotional awareness and inner resilience.

I offer sessions in a confidential, respectful and supportive space where you will be met with empathy and understanding.

Practice description

In our sessions, you can expect a space that is confidential, compassionate, and collaborative. I will not tell you what to do or offer quick fixes; instead, I will support you in developing deeper self-awareness, emotional understanding, and self-compassion. Together, we may explore patterns, emotions, and meanings that feel difficult to hold alone, always at a pace that feels safe for you.

I am especially mindful when working with clients who feel alone, unheard, or emotionally burdened, and I value creating a therapeutic relationship where trust can grow gradually. Therapy with me is not about “being fixed,” but about being met as you are and supported in finding your own way forward.

Sessions are offered in a respectful and professional setting, with regular supervision to ensure ethical and reflective practice.

My first session

Before we begin therapy, I offer a free initial assessment call, which takes place via phone or video call. This usually lasts around 15–20 minutes and is offered at no cost.

This initial conversation gives us both the opportunity to see whether working together feels right. It is a space for you to briefly share what has brought you to counselling, ask any questions you may have, and get a sense of how I work. I will also explain practical aspects such as confidentiality, boundaries, and what therapy with me may look like.

The assessment is not a therapy session, and there is no obligation to continue afterwards. Its purpose is to help ensure that counselling feels safe, appropriate, and supportive for you before committing to ongoing sessions.

If we both feel comfortable proceeding, we will then agree on a regular time to begin therapy.
