About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I’m Sally, an integrative therapist working with children, teenagers, young people and adults. I hold an MSc in Counselling Children and Young People and have over 20 years’ experience supporting children, young people and families, including many years working within education.
Alongside running Patchwork Pathways Therapy, I also work as a counsellor with Service Six, a leading organisation supporting children, young people and families.
Many of the young people I work with experience anxiety, low mood, emotional overwhelm, low self-esteem, school-related difficulties, friendship issues, anger, self-harm, or the lasting effects of difficult life experiences.
Parents often tell me they feel unsure how to help or that their child has stopped talking to them. My aim is to create a safe, accepting relationship where children and young people can begin to express themselves in their own time, at their own pace.
Alongside my specialist work with children and young people, I also support adults experiencing anxiety, stress, depression, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, burnout, chronic illness, grief and the ongoing impact of earlier life experiences. Therapy offers a calm, confidential space to understand what’s happening beneath the surface, develop healthier ways of coping and move towards lasting change.
I believe that the therapeutic relationship is central to effective therapy. Feeling genuinely heard, accepted and understood creates the foundations for meaningful change, so I work collaboratively, without judgement, and at a pace that feels right for you.
As an integrative therapist, I tailor therapy to each individual rather than following one single approach. Depending on your needs, I draw upon a range of evidence-informed therapeutic models. With children and young people, I also incorporate creative approaches where appropriate, including Lego-based activities, Domino Therapy, sand tray work, games, drawing and other creative resources.
Practice description
I work relationally and integratively, recognising that no two people have the same experiences or needs. My approach is grounded in developing a trusting therapeutic relationship where you feel genuinely listened to and understood.
Depending on your needs, I draw upon person-centred, attachment-informed, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural approaches, adapting sessions to suit the individual rather than expecting the individual to fit the model.
Whether you’re seeking support for yourself or your child, my aim is to provide a calm, compassionate and confidential space where you can make sense of your experiences and move towards meaningful, lasting change.
Alongside private practice, I work with schools, colleges and care providers, delivering individual therapy and therapeutic support within educational settings. I hold an enhanced DBS certificate and can provide all required professional documentation.
I offer appointments from comfortable therapy rooms in Northamptonshire and Central Milton Keynes, as well as online across the UK.
If you’re considering therapy and would like to discuss whether I’m the right therapist for you or your child, you’re welcome to arrange a free, confidential initial telephone conversation. This gives us the opportunity to talk about what has brought you to therapy, answer any questions, and decide whether working together feels like the right fit.
Or if you prefer you are welcome to book your first appointment online through my website.

My first session
Taking the first step towards therapy can feel daunting, whether you’re seeking support for yourself or your child. My aim is to make the process feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible.
Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another. We’ll talk about what has brought you to therapy, what you hope to achieve, and any questions or concerns you may have. There is no pressure to share everything straight away—we’ll work at a pace that feels right for you.
If you’re bringing your child or teenager and we haven’t already had a conversation, I’ll usually spend a little time with you at the beginning to understand your concerns before meeting with your child individually. Depending on their age and needs, we may also spend some time together at the end of the session to discuss practical arrangements and answer any questions.
Before our first appointment, I’ll send you the relevant information and consent forms to complete, so we can spend our time together focusing on you rather than paperwork.
The first session is also an opportunity for you to decide whether I feel like the right therapist for you or your child. Finding the right fit is important, and you’re under no obligation to continue if it doesn’t feel right.
