About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I'm Madeleine, an integrative counsellor and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
Reaching out for counselling can feel like a big step, especially if you have been coping on your own for a while. You might be feeling anxious, low, overwhelmed or stuck. Sometimes there is a clear reason for this, and sometimes there is simply a sense that life feels heavier than it should.
I offer a warm, confidential and empathic space where you can talk openly, without fear of judgment. My aim is to help you feel heard, understood and supported as we explore what difficulties brought you to seek support.
I work as an integrative counsellor, which means I draw on different therapeutic approaches depending on your needs. I tailor our work to suit you as an individual and move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
I see therapy as a collaborative process. You are the expert on your own life, and my role is to walk alongside you while you make sense of what you are experiencing and develop greater self-awareness, clarity, healing and resilience.
Areas I Can Help With
People come to counselling for many different reasons. I often work with clients who are experiencing:
Anxiety and overthinking (GAD)
Depression or low mood
Mood difficulties
Low self-esteem or lack of confidence
Grief and loss
Relationship difficulties
Feeling overwhelmed or stuck
Intrusive or distressing thoughts
Suicidal thoughts
Life transitions or difficult experiences
Practice description
Sessions take place online, allowing you to access counselling from the comfort and privacy of your own home, wherever you are based in the UK. Online counselling can offer greater flexibility and convenience while still providing a safe and meaningful therapeutic relationship.
My aim is to help you develop greater understanding of yourself, explore what may be holding you back, and find ways of moving forward that feel right for you. You can expect a respectful, compassionate and professional approach, with no judgement and no pressure to share more than you feel ready to.
If you are considering counselling, I would be happy to discuss what you are looking for and whether I might be the right therapist for you.
My first session
Before booking a first session, I offer a free 10 minute consultation call. This gives us an opportunity to briefly discuss your needs, for you to ask any questions, and to see whether working together feels like the right fit.
In our first session, I will gently guide us through a short client details form. This helps me ensure that I can work safely and effectively with you. We will also take time to go through the counselling contract together, so you have a clear understanding of how I work, confidentiality, and practical arrangements.
Once these foundations are in place, we can begin to explore what has brought you to counselling and what you would like to gain from our work together. The session is paced with care, and there is no expectation to share more than you feel ready to.
