About me and my therapy practice
I'm Julia, a qualified and experienced psychotherapeutic counsellor, as well as an NHS High Intensity Practitioner. I offer a warm, safe and welcoming space where you can feel heard, understood and accepted, without fear of judgement.
Life can sometimes feel overwhelming, whether you are struggling with emotional difficulties, relationship challenges or significant life changes. You may be feeling stuck, disconnected from others, or simply unsure of how to move forward. Whatever has brought you counselling, you don't have to face it alone.
I work with both individuals and couples, helping you explore, your feelings, understand unhelpful patterns and develop a greater sense of clarity, confidence and emotional wellbeing. With couples, I support partners experiencing communication difficulties, conflict, disconnection and changes in their relationship. Together we can work towards a deeper understanding of one another and explore ways to build a more fulfilling relationship.
My approach is compassionate, collaborative and tailored to your individual needs. I believe that meaningful change happens when you feel safe enough to explore experiences at your own pace, with someone who listens and seeks to understand.
I trained with Tavistock Relationships in London and hold a postgraduate qualification in working with couples. My work draws on a range of therapeutic approaches, allowing me to adapt our sessions to your circumstances and goals.
I am an accredited member of the BACP and UKCP.

My first session
Our therapy sessions will last for 50 minutes and will be on the same day and time each week. However, before starting therapy, we will meet for an initial consultation to discuss the issues you hope to explore, what brought you to therapy, and your goals for therapy. This will also allow you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have and for you to decide if you feel comfortable working with me, as having the right therapist is an important part of the process.
Deciding to start therapy can feel scary, and it is natural to experience uncertainty and to be anxious. I aim to offer a supportive, safe, and non-judgmental space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings at a pace you are comfortable with.
