About me and my therapy practice

Hi, Im Katie, a fully qualified integrative counsellor, with experience working with adults, children and young people.

Looking for counselling support can be a scary step to take. There can be so much secrecy around counselling. What is it? What happens in the room? What do any of these terms mean? I know, I’ve been there too, but my therapy journey started with the exact same step you have just taken, which has led you to my profile.

I accessed counselling after my own lived experience with mental health struggles, when I felt unsupported and unsure how to make sense of my emotions, so I understand how overwhelming and isolating life can sometimes feel. My experience was life-changing and sparked my passion for helping others to feel seen, heard and accepted without judgment. So, if you are feeling overwhelmed, struggling with day-to-day stuff or have experienced something that is too much to handle alone, I'm here for you, and getting the right support can make all the difference when you feel disconnected or stuck.


Practice description

So what does integrative counselling mean? It means I have been trained in different counselling theories and can use a range of therapeutic techniques. I believe that all human experience is unique, and therefore, my therapy style is not one size fits all. I will work with you as the individual that you are and tailor our work to your needs. I also believe that every counsellor is unique and therefore, offer a free initial telephone consultation, up to 30 mins. This gives us the opportunity to ask any questions we may have and get to know each other a little. It allows you to experience how working with me might feel and decide if I'm the right counsellor for you. This is really important because therapy works best when it’s a collaborative process and there is a trusting relationship at the heart of it.

I work with a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, self harm & suicidal ideation, grief, trauma, and sexual abuse, but whatever you bring to your session is completely ok and we will navigate it together. I won’t give you advice or tell you what to do, but I will always do my best to support you in making sense of your thoughts and feelings and help you in finding a way through the difficulties you’re facing

I am a member of the BACP, and this gives the assurance that I will act ethically, professionally and with integrity. I have a full and enhanced DBS registration, professional indemnity insurance, and have regular clinical supervision, as well as being registered with the ICO to ensure data protection regulations are adhered to.

My first session

My aim in every session is to create a safe, confidential, and supportive environment where you feel respected, heard, and able to explore your thoughts and feelings in your own time.

We would start with a free initial telephone consultation, up to 30 mins, to discuss your needs. If you wish to go ahead, we will then arrange your first session. 

I offer both short and long-term contracts. A typical short-term contract would be 6-12 weeks, and a long-term contract could be several months or years.

I deliver F2F sessions for adults, children and young people in Central Dartford and online sessions nationwide for adults and young people.

I will work alongside you for as long as you need, helping you build the tools and understanding to carry forward into your everyday life, so that, over time, you no longer need counselling and feel able to live the life you want.
