About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I am Katie a BAPT registered play and child-centred therapist. Alongside this, I have many years experience of working as an SEN specialist teacher and Case Lead, enabling me to understand first-hand the challenges neurodiverse children and young people face today.
I offer one-to-one Play Therapy sessions in a safe and trusting space, working alongside the families to support children and young people who are experiencing challenges in every day life. Your child may struggle to put their feelings into words and the creative toolkit becomes their form of communication, enabling your child to process, explore and communicate these feelings through play.
Play Therapy can help to build resilience, self-confidence and self-esteem, build peer relationships and support your child with emotional regulation and anxiety.
Practice description
My approach is child-centred and non-directive. My Play Therapy sessions are informed by neuroscience, attachment, systemic and psychodynamic theories.
During sessions I use a creative toolkit, which includes sand, art and craft materials, music, puppets and sensory toys.
My first session
I offer a free 20 minute phone consultation to discuss your child's needs and how Play Therapy can support them.
If sessions go ahead, I would meet with the parent/carer and discuss the referral and outcomes in greater detail and find out more about your child.
Prior to the first session, I can meet with your and your child face to face on over video, to introduce myself and answer any questions your child may have.
