About me and my therapy practice

Many of the people I work with appear to be coping on the outside but privately struggle with anxiety, low self-esteem, self-criticism or repeating relationship patterns. Others come feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure why the same difficulties keep showing up in different areas of their lives.

I work from a psychodynamic perspective, which means we take time to understand not only what is happening now, but also how earlier experiences may still be influencing how you think, feel and relate to others today.

Online therapy offers the opportunity to explore these difficulties from the comfort and privacy of your own space. Many clients find they are able to speak openly and engage deeply in the work without needing to travel or fit appointments around a busy schedule.

My approach is warm, thoughtful and non-judgemental. Together we explore the patterns that may be keeping you stuck, helping you develop greater self-understanding and the freedom to make different choices in your life and relationships.

I offer weekly online therapy to adults throughout the UK.

Practice description

Online therapy offers a flexible and accessible way to access support wherever you are in the UK.

Many people choose online counselling because it allows them to attend sessions from the comfort of their own home, workplace or another private space. This can make therapy easier to fit around work, family commitments and everyday life.

My aim is to provide the same thoughtful, confidential and supportive experience online as you would expect from in-person therapy. Sessions take place via secure video call and provide a regular space where you can speak openly about what is troubling you.

People often come to therapy feeling anxious, stuck, overwhelmed or caught in patterns they cannot seem to change. Others struggle with low confidence, self-criticism or relationship difficulties. Together we work to understand these experiences and develop a deeper understanding of what may be driving them.

Many clients find that as therapy progresses they become less self-critical, more emotionally aware and more confident in their relationships and daily lives.

My first session

Starting therapy online can feel like a big step, especially if you have never had counselling before. My aim is to make the first session feel comfortable, welcoming and straightforward.

The first session is an opportunity for us to explore what has brought you to therapy and what you would like to be different in your life. You do not need to prepare anything beforehand or know exactly what to say. We simply begin wherever feels right for you.

I may ask some questions about your current situation, important relationships and relevant life experiences to help me understand what is going on for you. We will also discuss what you hope to gain from therapy and whether my way of working feels like a good fit.

There is no assessment form to complete and no pressure to share more than feels comfortable. We work at your pace and focus on what feels important to you.

The first session lasts 50 minutes and is charged at my standard fee of £55.

About me and my therapy practice

My name is Thomas Elliott and I am a psychodynamic counsellor based in Glasgow, offering therapy in person and online across the UK.

Many of the people I work with appear to be coping on the outside but privately struggle with anxiety, low self-esteem, self-criticism or difficulties in relationships. Others come feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure why the same patterns keep repeating in their lives.

I believe that many of our present difficulties have roots in earlier experiences and relationships. The ways we learned to cope, protect ourselves or gain acceptance can continue to influence how we think, feel and relate to others long after they were first developed.

In therapy, I offer a calm, confidential and non-judgemental space where we can explore these patterns together. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, psychodynamic therapy aims to help you develop a deeper understanding of yourself and the experiences that have shaped you.

As this understanding grows, many people find they become less self-critical, feel more emotionally steady, and are able to make different choices in their relationships, work and everyday life.

Whether you are experiencing anxiety, relationship difficulties, loss, low confidence or simply a sense that something isn’t quite right, therapy can provide a space to pause, reflect and begin to understand yourself differently.

Practice description

Many people come to therapy because they feel anxious, overwhelmed, stuck, or caught in patterns they cannot seem to change. You may find yourself overthinking, struggling with self-confidence, repeating the same difficulties in relationships, or feeling as though you are never quite good enough despite your best efforts.

I work from a psychodynamic perspective, which means we take time to understand not only what is happening in your life now, but also how earlier experiences may still be influencing how you think, feel and relate to others. Together we explore the patterns that have developed over time and whether they continue to serve you today.

My approach is thoughtful, collaborative and non-judgemental. Therapy provides a regular space to speak openly about what is troubling you, helping you develop a deeper understanding of yourself and your relationships.

Many clients find that as therapy progresses they become less self-critical, more emotionally aware and better able to make choices that reflect who they are now rather than old patterns they have carried for years.

I offer therapy in person in Glasgow West End and online across the UK.

My first session

Starting therapy can feel daunting, especially if you’re already feeling overwhelmed, anxious or stuck. My aim is to make the first session feel as comfortable and straightforward as possible.

Our initial meeting is an opportunity for you to talk about what has brought you to therapy and what you hope might change. I’ll ask some questions to build a picture of your life and current difficulties, but there is no pressure to have all the answers or know exactly where to begin.

During the session we may explore:

• What is currently troubling you or keeping you stuck

• Important experiences and relationships that have shaped you

• What you would like to gain from therapy

• Whether my way of working feels right for you

We always work at your pace and focus on what feels important for you to talk about.

The first session is also an opportunity for us to see whether we feel like a good fit. A strong therapeutic relationship is one of the most important parts of successful therapy. At the end of the session we can decide together whether ongoing therapy feels like the right next step.

Next Steps

If you find yourself struggling in relationships or repeating patterns that leave you feeling hurt, frustrated or stuck, please feel free to get in touch to arrange an introductory call.

About me and my therapy practice

Do you find yourself repeating the same patterns in relationships, struggling with boundaries, fearing rejection or feeling drawn to people who leave you feeling hurt or uncertain? Many people come to therapy knowing something keeps repeating but not fully understanding why.

I work with adults experiencing relationship difficulties, attachment issues and recurring patterns in their personal lives. While the circumstances may look different each time, the emotional experience often feels familiar.

Using a psychodynamic approach, we explore how earlier relationships and experiences may still be influencing how you relate to yourself and others today. Together we look at the patterns that continue to show up and whether they are still serving you.

Many clients find that therapy helps them understand themselves more clearly, improve their relationships and make different choices that feel healthier and more fulfilling.

Practice description

Relationship difficulties are often about more than the relationship itself. They can involve self-esteem, anxiety, trust, boundaries, fear of abandonment, people pleasing or a persistent feeling of not being valued.

Many of the people I work with find themselves asking similar questions: Why do I keep ending up in the same situations? Why do I struggle to say no? Why do I stay in relationships that make me unhappy? Why do I feel so affected by rejection?

Therapy provides a space to step back and understand the patterns behind these experiences. Rather than focusing only on current problems, psychodynamic therapy explores the deeper influences that may be shaping how you relate to others.

As understanding grows, many people find they become more confident in their relationships, better able to set boundaries and less likely to repeat patterns that leave them feeling stuck or dissatisfied.

I offer one-to-one therapy online across the UK and in person in Glasgow West End.

My first session

Starting therapy can feel daunting, particularly when relationship difficulties are involved. You may feel confused, hurt, frustrated or unsure whether you are overreacting to what has happened.

The first session is an opportunity for us to explore what has brought you to therapy and how your relationships may be affecting your wellbeing. There is no pressure to have everything worked out or know exactly what you want to say.

I may ask some questions about your current situation, important relationships and personal history to help me understand the bigger picture. We will also discuss what you hope might change and whether my way of working feels right for you.

We work at your pace and focus on what feels important to you. The first session lasts 50 minutes and is charged at my standard fee of £55.
