About me and my therapy practice

Life can sometimes feel especially overwhelming when your early experiences or close relationships have left you feeling unsafe, unseen or not good enough. You might appear to be coping on the outside, yet inside feel anxious, numb, angry, confused or deeply alone. If this resonates, you don’t have to face it by yourself.

I am an integrative therapeutic counsellor, registered with the BACP, and I offer a warm, non-judgemental space where you can talk openly and honestly about what’s going on for you. My experience and particular interest is at working with people who have:

• Traumatic and adverse childhood experiences or difficult early family experiences

• Lived with domestic abuse

• Ongoing relationship difficulties – with partners, family, friends or colleagues

• Patterns such as people-pleasing, over-responsibility, or struggling to set boundaries

• Experience anxiety and low moods after distressing event or bereavement and loss

As an integrative counsellor, I draw from different therapeutic approaches to suit you as an individual, always at your pace. My way of working is trauma-informed, gentle and collaborative. You are the expert in your own life; my role is to walk alongside you, supporting you so you can notice patterns, links, explore choices and strategies and ultimately achieve meaningful growth.

Practice description

My approach is warm and relational. I offer a confidential space where all parts of you are welcome, even the ones you might feel ashamed of, confused by or used to hiding.

Trauma and PTSD can profoundly shape how you think, feel, and move through life, often without you fully noticing their impact. Trauma might be linked to one distressing event or bereavement, or to prolonged experiences such as childhood abuse or domestic violence. Counselling can provide a supportive space to make sense of these experiences.

Working together, we can carefully explore the memories, emotions, and triggers that may be keeping you stuck, and develop helpful coping tools so you can move toward greater calm, stability, and healing.

As an integrative counsellor, I draw from different therapeutic approaches to fit you as an individual, rather than expecting you to fit a model. Together we might:

• Explore how past experiences are shaping your life and relationships now

• Notice and gently challenge unhelpful beliefs about yourself

• Understand recurring patterns in relationships and where they come from

• Build a stronger sense of self-worth, identity and boundaries

• Find safer ways to manage feelings such as anxiety, shame, anger or grief

I work at your pace. There is no pressure to share anything before you feel ready. You decide what feels important to bring, and we will move slowly enough for you to feel safe, grounded and in control.

My first session

Our first session will be a chance for us to look at what has brought you to counselling and to decide whether working together feels like a good fit.

The session is supportive and collaborative, and you can share as much or as little as you feel ready to. We may explore what is happening for you at the moment, what prompted you to seek support, and what you would like to get from therapy. I may ask some questions so I can understand your circumstances and how best to help.

You can ask any questions you have about counselling or how I work. There is no obligation to continue after this first meeting. The cost is the same as a regular ongoing session.

If you choose to continue, we can agree the next steps, including how often we meet and what longer-term counselling may involve.
