About me and my therapy practice
Hi, my name is Sam and I am an integrative Psychotherapist. I am passionate about all individuals being able to express their emotions and the importance of them being heard. I aim to provide a safe, confidential, un-judgemental space to enable us to work together to explore what has brought you to counselling. I work with all individuals aged 16 and above. At the moment I give counselling sessions solely online.
Counselling is a personal and unique journey. At times the journey may be uncomfortable and hard. I am here to support you and be along side in this journey. I work relationally, which means I put you as the client first, focusing on working collaboratively and putting your feelings and reasons for coming to counselling at the centre of our work. I can help you process your feelings, regulate emotions and help to understand yourself better. All counselling sessions are confidential and I work to ethical guidelines, ensuring I put your safety first.
Practice description
I work both short-term; allowing you to focus more specifically on the problem/s you bring for counselling and longer term; looking at your emotions and exploring them, perhaps looking at the past and how that is impacting the present. In either work, I work relationally, building trust and warmth between us adapting my approach to your own needs. In both approaches my aim is to make sessions feel warm, a place of safety and confidential.
Before becoming a psychotherapist, I have experience within the NHS, the community nursing division, experience with different faiths and spirituality and experience with the LGBTQIA+ community. I have worked with grief/bereavement, abuse, anxiety, depression and identity exploration. I have also worked other issues noted on my profile.
My first session
Please feel free to send an email if you are interested, or have any questions. I aim to respond to you as soon as possible. I tend to arrange a free 15 minute telephone call before our first session, mainly to get to know you and your reasons for exploring counselling.
Before our first session I will ask you to fill out and sign a form to take some basic personal details, which are confidential. I will also ask you to sign a working agreement of working together, should you choose to work with me. It can feel overwhelming, I am here to answer any questions and make things feel as safe as possible.
Each session is £50 for a 50 minute session. If you book and pay for 4 sessions upfront, the 4 session are £180. I offer a concession rate of £40 per session for students.
