About me and my therapy practice
Feeling overwhelmed? Stuck? Wanting change but no idea where to start?
I work with individuals who find themselves feeling just like that. Wondering why everything always feels so hard, sometimes struggling with long-term health conditions and often coming to terms with a self-identification or diagnosis of neurodivergence.
I have lived experience of Autism and ADHD and aim to work with clients in a very neurodivergent affirming way, moving away from deficits and disorders, instead concentrating on differences and personal strengths. My experience in education also gives me a good understanding of the challenges faced by parents navigating the SEND system, as well as supporting adults whose own experience of education may have been shaped by their neurodivergence. I am a passionate advocate for Women’s Health and work with many female and AFAB clients navigating the unseen burdens of pelvic and gynaecological conditions such as endometriosis, adenomyosis, PMOS and PMDD, as well as fertility challenges.
I am an experienced therapist working within the NHS, as well as previous charity and educational settings. I believe therapy can be a space to slow down and make sense of what might be happening inside. Working with you to help you develop a better understanding of yourself and what you may want to move forward in your life.
Practice description
I offer a calm, supportive and confidential space where you can explore what is happening in your life, at a pace that feels right for you, where I aim to help you feel safe, heard and respected.
I work in a relational, trauma-informed and integrative way, which means I adapt my approach to suit you as an individual.
I offer both short-term counselling (8-12 sessions) and longer-term therapy (12+ sessions).
I offer sessions in person at Oldgate Therapy Centre in Morpeth, Northumberland.
My first session
After this, we will meet in person for our first session. During this session, we will explore what has brought you to therapy, what you hope to achieve, and some aspects of your personal history, that you feel comfortable to share.
This session gives you the opportunity to ask any further questions you may have, and for us to discuss whether working together feels like a good fit for you.
We can talk about whether short or longer-term therapy may be most helpful for you, thinking about what you would like to gain from therapy. We can also consider any practical arrangements, eg weekly or fortnightly session times, that fit your schedule.
By the end of this session, the aim is for you to feel clearer, supported, and understood as we consider next steps working together.
